Mark Zuckerberg shared his candid views on the future outlook of AI in general users’ lives, stating that smart glasses will millions of users.
Apart from the Sci-fi movies, no one would have predicted that the world would spend its maximum daily time looking at smartphone screens. But it happened. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, and Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, engaged in a leadership conversation during the SIGGRAPH conference on Monday.
Mark said that almost every person will be wearing smart glasses in the near future. Unlike the existing AR/VR and AI wearable technology, AI smart glasses will have an explosive range based on capabilities, price, and fashion statement. The recent launch of Apple Vision Pro has already introduced the potential of AI to mass audiences.
"So I kind of think, based on what we're seeing now with the Ray-Ban Metas, I would guess that display-less AI glasses at the $300 point are going to be a really big product that tens of millions of people or hundreds of millions of people eventually are going to have, and you're going to have super interactive AI that you're talking to,"
- Mark Zuckerberg
Earlier this year, the company announced an upcoming upgrade to Meta AI glasses, which lets users experience better capabilities. The number and quality of these capabilities and technology features will depend on the price point. The lowest of the AI smart glass range may start from $300, which would come with a display-less interface. As the price goes up, the fashion statement and AI capabilities will enhance manifold. The potential is limitless, and millions of individuals will be seen wearing them every day.
"The goal there has been, OK, let's constrain the form factor to just something that looks great. And within that, let's put in as much technology as we can — understanding that we're not going to get to the kind of ideal of what we want to fit into it technically, but at the end, it'll be like great looking glasses."
- Mark Zuckerberg
Just like Meta, Google launched smart glasses that failed miserably to impress the masses. These AI smart glasses can capture photos and videos, live stream on Instagram, and take video calls on WhatsApp. These accessories will come with a microphone and speaker to interact with Meta AI like a virtual assistant.
