MobileAppDaily
Methodology

Every company and product featured on MobileAppDaily is evaluated through a defined, criteria-based framework. Below is a detailed breakdown of how we assess products and determine company positioning across our directories.

The MobileAppDaily Method

How We Rank Companies
in Our Directories

Our credibility isn't powered by hype, but algorithms.

We have a mechanism in place that plays fair; there's no hack to crack these algorithms. In totality, a company gets judged based on a scoring system that rewards each firm with a maximum of 100 points.

This point system is designed to rank firms based on what their actual potential is, instead of marketing claims made by a bunch of ghostwriters on their website.
Here's the exact methodology we use to determine who sits at the top of our directories.

The rule is simple: more points = higher position!

The Ranking Engine: A Visual Overview

The path to a top ranking is linear and transparent. Every company undergoes the same four-stage audit.

PHASE 1 PHASE 2 PHASE 3
PHASE 1

Market Presence

Review
Service
Focus
Case
Studies
Awards

We pull raw performance data directly from your company profile.

PHASE 2

Trust Validation

We have an algorithm in place to automate the verification process.

PHASE 3

Final Ranking & Tie-Breakers

Comparative Analysis

If scores are identical, our 'Review Integrity' protocol determines the leader.

The 100-Point Evaluation Matrix

Your final rank is the sum of seven distinct performance vectors. There are no hidden variables. But the tactics to
get the maximum score are given after the table.

Performance Vector

Maximum Impact

What We Measure

Reviews & Ratings 30 Points Client satisfaction volume and sentiment quality
Service Line Coverage 30 Points Dedication to the specific category (Specialization)
Portfolio 15 Points Tangible proof of work and project complexity
Awards 10 Points Third-party industry recognition
Verified Badge 5 Points Corporate identity and domain validation
Editorial Trust 5 Points Profile completeness and transparency
MAD Interview 5 Points Direct engagement with MobileAppDaily analysts.

Deep Dive: The Scoring Logic

This section details exactly how we calculate points for each vector.

Customer Satisfaction

Max: 30 Points

High ratings are meaningless without volume. Our algorithm balances the quantity of feedback with the quality of the sentiment.

Part A

Volume Scoring

We assign base points strictly on the number of verified reviews.

3 Reviews
15 Points
4 Reviews
20 Points
5 Reviews
25 Points
6+ Reviews
30 Points
Part B

The Quality Multiplier

Volume points are then adjusted by your Average Star Rating. A high volume of mediocre reviews will damage your score. Using third-party reviews will damage your score. Make sure your reviews are from real folks.

Average Rating Multiplier Impact on Score
4.8 – 5.0 1.6x Maximum Boost (Up to 30 cap)
4.5 – 4.7 1.4x Strong Boost
4.2 – 4.4 1.2x Moderate Boost
3.9 – 4.1 1.0x Base Score
3.6 – 3.8 0.8x Controlled Penalty
3.3 – 3.5 0.6x Major Penalty
3.0 – 3.2 0.4x Severe Penalty

The Calculation: If a company has 6 reviews (30 points) but a 4.0 rating (1.0x multiplier): 30 x 1 = 30 Total Points

Note
  • Any average rating below 3 will be multiplied by 0.2
  • In any case, the score rewarded won't cross 30 points

Service Line Coverage

Max: 30 Points

We prioritize specialists over generalists. If you apply for a "Blockchain Development" directory, but your service focus is split across 10 other industries, your score will suffer. We calculate this using a direct percentage yield.

THE FORMULA

(Service Coverage % ÷ 100) × 30

30% Allocation
9 Points
50% Allocation
15 Points
80% Allocation
24 Points
100% Allocation
30 Points
(Pure Specialist)
Strategy Note: To rank higher, narrow your profile’s service focus to align with the specific directory you are targeting.

Portfolio & Case Studies

Max: 15 Points

Claims require evidence. We evaluate the depth of your past work.

Requirement:

Detailed case studies including problem, solution, and tech stack

Scoring:

5 points per verified portfolio item

Cap:

3 Portfolios = 15 Points (Max)

Awards & Industry Recognition

Max: 10 Points

External validation signals market maturity.

Requirement:

5 points per recognized industry award.

Cap:

2 Awards = 10 Points (Max)

The Trust & Verification Layer

The final 15 points are binary—you either have them, or you don't. These ensure that our users are connecting
with verified, transparent, and accessible organizations.

Verified Business Status

5 Points

The 'Verified' tag is awarded to companies that meet at least two of four established credibility benchmarks on MobileAppDaily.

These benchmarks include:

  • A minimum of three verified client reviews on the platform
  • At least two published portfolios or case studies
  • Recognized industry awards
  • Relevant compliance standards or certification credentials

This verification badge allows users to quickly identify companies that have demonstrated a foundational level of consistency, transparency, and professional credibility across multiple performance indicators.

The Tie-Breaker Protocol

In highly competitive directories, multiple companies often hit the same score ceiling.
When scores are identical, we apply a strict two-step logic to determine position.

#

TIEBREAKER RULE #1

In highly competitive directories, multiple companies often hit the same score ceiling. When scores are identical, we apply a strict two-step logic to determine position.

#

TIEBREAKER RULE #2

If review volumes are similar, we analyze the source of the reviews.

  • Priority: Reviews collected natively via MobileAppDaily.
  • Deprioritized: Companies relying heavily on imported 3rd-party reviews.

We value data that we can verify ourselves. Native reviews carry more weight in a dead heat.

MobileAppDaily’s Editorial Standards

Our content is diverse and independent. Internally, we have experts assigned on multiple industries and niches. Some folks are doing it all for the healthtech industry, while others are completely focused on publishing high-quality thought leadership blogs.

However, there are certain parameters for every category of content. For instance,

Unbiased and Uninfluenced Information

Unbiased and Uninfluenced Information

  • No external organization or party influences our decision-making. If we don’t like a product, we simply don’t like it.
  • Our goal remains to publish unbiased information. Therefore, we ensure every opinion we share, whether of an app or a tech, is based on our actual research or experience.
Every Detail is Fact-Checked and Peer-Reviewed

Every Detail is Fact-Checked and Peer-Reviewed

  • Everything that goes live on the website has to be factually accurate. Beyond using high-quality data sources and organizing our own research, we have certain editors assigned to maintain quality standards and fact-check every piece of information before it goes live.
  • Beyond fact-checking, each editorial passes through a two-layer editorial review—first by the primary author, and then by a senior editor who ensures accuracy, consistency, and neutrality. We also loop in subject matter experts when the content touches on niche topics like cybersecurity, blockchain, or medtech.

We Hear You, Beyond Search Engines

We collab with social media experts to identify what our target audience wants. We prepare additional content around these observed queries.

Simplified Voice and Tone Consistency

Our editorial voice is informed, clear, and accessible. The goal remains to simplify complex ideas without influencing the depth of the concept. Whether we are writing about ethical app design standards or explaining how generative AI works, we use a tone that is professional, yet human.

We also adapt tone depending on the audience, for example, C-suite content tends to be strategic and direct, while product-focused content remains more technical.
