November brought a huge spotlight event for gamers everywhere. We are talking about the dedicated State of Play Japan showcase. PlayStation dropped a special Japan-focused State of Play event on November 11, 2025. This was a deep dive into Japanese gaming, focusing on the latest and greatest coming to PlayStation 5. Major Game Releases Announced at State of Play Japan
1. Dragon Quest VII Reimagined
Square Enix opened the State of Play with Dragon Quest VII Reimagined. The full remake will launch on PS5 on February 5, 2026. Players can reunite with adult Keifa in a brand new episode that wasn't in the original game.

2. Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake
Koei Tecmo Games revealed the remake of Fatal Frame II with a March 12, 2026, release date. This remake of the 2003 horror classic brings updated visuals and gameplay. Players explore a cursed village while confronting spirits using the Camera Obscura.
3. Tokyo Xtreme Racer
The racing series returns to PlayStation after a 20-year gap. Tokyo Xtreme Racer launches on PS5 on February 26, 2026. Over 400 rivals await across 180 kilometers of Tokyo highways, and the Spirit Point system adds a unique twist to races.

4. Octopath Traveler 0
A demo for Octopath Traveler 0 dropped immediately after the PlayStation State of Play announcements. The full game arrives December 4 on PS5 and PS4. New features include village-building mechanics and three new characters - Herminia, Tytos, and Auguste.

5. Coffee Talk Tokyo
Toge Productions announced Coffee Talk Tokyo for March 5, 2026. The narrative adventure puts you in a Tokyo café serving drinks to humans and yōkai. This spin-off continues the beloved Coffee Talk series with a Japanese setting.

6. Elden Ring Nightreign: The Forsaken Hollows
The first DLC for Elden Ring Nightreign will launch on December 4, 2025. Two new playable characters join the roster - the Scholar and the Undertaker. The Forsaken Hollows brings fresh areas and tough new bosses for players to tackle.
7. Gran Turismo 7 Power Pack
Producer Kazunori Yamauchi unveiled the Power Pack DLC coming December 4, 2025. This paid expansion introduces 24-hour endurance racing to Gran Turismo 7. Full race weekends and authentic motorsport challenges are part of the package.

The Visions of Four Heroes DLC arrives January 22, 2026. This major expansion features a new story centered on the Four Heroes. New allies, weapons, and expanded battlefields are included in the update.

9. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls
Arc System Works announced a second closed beta starting December 5, 2025, and will end on December 7, 2025. Spider-Man and Ghost Rider join the playable roster during this test. Two new stages - X-Mansion and Savage Land, give players fresh arenas to battle in.

10. BlazBlue Entropy Effect X
This roguelike spin-off launches on PS5 on February 12, 2026. Fourteen familiar BlazBlue characters return with deep customization options. Pre-orders opened right after the State of Play Japan event wrapped up.

11. BrokenLore: Unfollow and Ascend
The psychological horror anthology revealed two entries. BrokenLore: Unfollow drops January 16, 2026, with a social media theme. BrokenLore: Ascend arrives Summer 2026 as a Tokyo-set survival horror featuring climbing mechanics.

12. Never Grave: The Witch and The Curse
This Metroidvania-style adventure launches March 5, 2026. The 2D roguelike features unique boss battles with special mechanics. Producer Yasuomi Sakai discussed attack patterns during a developer interview at the event.

The cozy simulation game releases on PS5 in April 2026. You run a Japanese convenience store in a quiet town. Daily interactions with customers shape your own story through simple choices.

State of Play Wraps Up with More Reveals
Several other titles got quick mentions during the PlayStation State of Play. MotionRec arrives in Spring 2026 as a puzzle game where you record and replay actions. Wandering Sword launches May 28, 2026, with pixel art and twenty endings. No Sleep For Kaname Date hits PS5 on February 26. Kyouran Makaism from the Disgaea team will drop on January 29, 2026.
Fate Trigger begins early access in Q1 2026 with two new heroes. Monster Hunter Wilds gets its fourth free update on December 16. Bandai Namco revealed DLC for multiple games - Once Upon a Katamari, Pac-Man World 2 with Sonic content, Digimon Story Time Stranger, Super Robot Wars Y, and Sonic Racing CrossWorlds SpongeBob pack. Damon and Baby arrive in early 2026 as an action-adventure.
