OpenAI is transforming the user experience in a groundbreaking manner. In the third edition of OpenAI DevDay 2025, it was announced that new applications will be directly integrated into ChatGPT. The AI model now has access to a large number of third-party apps, including Booking.com, Canva, Coursera, Figma, Expedia, Spotify, and Zillow, following the release of the OpenAI SDK and OpenAI Agent Kits. With this new feature, ChatGPT has undergone a substantial evolution in user interaction, becoming not only a conversation partner but also an efficient centre for app-based interactions.
What’s New in ChatGPT for Developers?
OpenAI's new App SDK enables developers to incorporate their applications straight into the ChatGPT environment. Developers can now easily build, deploy, and optimize custom AI agents and workflows with the new Agent Kits without leaving the chat window. Going a step further, OpenAI's Agent Kits let developers communicate with users in a variety of apps and offer tailored, insightful answers. This feature is especially helpful for companies trying to improve customer service or for developers who want to make their apps more interactive.
How Does OpenAI SDK Work for Users and Developers?
With the OpenAI App SDK, integrating applications is now significantly easier, benefiting both developers and ChatGPT's end users. Users can now access their favorite apps directly inside ChatGPT, without needing to open separate apps or websites.
For developers, OpenAI’s Agent Kit takes things to the next level. It allows developers to create smart agents that can handle complex interactions within the chat. ChatGPT and the agent do all the heavy lifting, providing users with the info they need right where they're chatting.
