OpenAI Expands Deep Research to All Paying ChatGPT Users Worldwide
Date: February 26, 2025
OpenAI expands Deep Research to all paying ChatGPT users, enhancing AI-driven research capabilities with multi-step analysis, citations, and reports.
OpenAI is rolling out its Deep Research feature to all paying ChatGPT users globally, giving more people access to advanced AI-driven research capabilities. Previously available only to ChatGPT Pro subscribers at a cost of $200 per month, the tool is now open to users on Plus, Team, Edu, and Enterprise plans—though with different usage limits.
If you’re on a ChatGPT Pro plan, your Deep Research query limit increases from 100 to 120 per month. Meanwhile, other paid users now get 10 Deep Research queries per month.

one of my favorite things we have ever shipped.
That means whether you’re a student, researcher, or business professional, you can now tap into ChatGPT’s autonomous multi-step research capabilities, which allow it to analyze complex topics, compile reports, and generate citations—all within minutes.
How Deep Research Works
First launched earlier this month, Deep Research isn’t just a basic search function. Instead, it lets ChatGPT autonomously plan and execute research strategies based on the user’s query.
Here’s how it works:
- Ask a complex question – You can submit queries via text, images, or even uploaded documents.
- ChatGPT gets to work – The AI agent analyzes, cross-references, and compiles data.
- Receive a detailed report – Within 5 to 30 minutes, you’ll get a structured summary, citations, and reference lists, offering transparency into the AI’s methodology.
This makes Deep Research a powerful tool for professionals, academics, and businesses that need fast yet comprehensive insights.
A Word of Caution
While Deep Research is designed to deliver in-depth answers, OpenAI urges users to double-check the outputs, as AI-generated content isn’t always perfect and may misinterpret sources or present inaccuracies.
