OnePlus has set a new benchmark for all its Android rivals through its speedy updates throughout the year and now the launch of OxygenOS 15.
OnePlus has officially launched OxygenOS 15, becoming the first device maker to adopt the latest Android OS. OnePlus 11 is the latest device to receive the rollout after the OnePlus 12, and the OnePlus Open impressed its users with the new OS experience. This update is not the final stable release and is being rolled out as a Release Candidate (RC) build.
The RC build release will offer users a preview of the upcoming features in a broader stable release. In an overview, OxygenOS 15 brings AI-powered tools, smoother animations, and a new always-on display for all compatible OnePlus devices that meet minimum hardware requirements.
The smoother animation experience comes from a new animation engine that enhances touch interactions across screens and apps. The Always-On display expands functionalities by offering customizations that make lock screen personalization a game-changer.
OnePlus has put a heavy focus on artificial intelligence features in the OxygenOS 15 rollout. A new AI retouch feature automatically sharpens blurred images and adds crisper details. AI reflection eraser works to eliminate any glares or lens reflections in the image to minimize distractions and noise. A comprehensive AI writing suite has also been launched, which resembles all features offered by Apple Intelligence. An impressive ‘Circle To Search’ feature empowers productivity by helping users find items, apps, or objects within images on the device.
For now, OnePlus is only releasing updates in India through a 3.59 GB downloadable. Based on the feedback it receives from the select users eligible for receiving the RC update, the company may plan a global rollout in the next RC version or the final stable version. Users curious enough to try the latest RC version outside the eligible criteria can manually sideload their firmware.
With the latest OxygenOS rollout, OnePlus has beaten top Android competitors, including Samsung and Google. The company has also warranted 5 years of updates on the OnePlus 11, the eldest version compatible with the new AI capabilities. This means that even the OnePlus 11 will remain relevant and optimized for best performance at least till 2028. OnePlus may not be the original creator of top AI chatbots, but its AI assistance features significantly reduce reliance on external apps.
