The Next iOS 18.4 Update Will Reshape Our iPhone Usage
Date: January 02, 2025
Apple has been slow in providing actions for its promised Apple Intelligence and other related features. But the iOS 18.4 update will be a game changer.
The last three updates after launching iOS 18 have been as underwhelming as the new iPhone introductions have been for the last two launches. Apple introduced Apple Intelligence in the iOS 18.3 update and kept rolling minor upgrades to it, keeping all its eligible users at the edge of their seats, but not with a good feeling. iOS 18.3 beta upgrades also have kept developers and testers unsatisfied. However, the next iOS 18.4 update will bring some game-changing features and UX improvements.
Apple will likely roll out its iOS 18.4 update for general users by April 2025. Nearly two before the official release, beta testing versions will roll out for the developer communities to test and share their valuable feedback.
With the next update, iPhones, iPads, and MAC devices will witness major upgrades to digital assistant Siri, Priority Notifications, and more. Siri has been getting smarter every day ever since Apple Intelligence was integrated with it. The digital assistant may soon be able to perform actions across applications without the user requiring to open them. The feature will not only work with native apps but with third-party applications as well.
Personalization will take the next big leap with the upcoming major iOS update. Users will be able to build a hyper-personal AI assistant equipped to understand contexts and slang to provide a seamless interaction. Imagine a free JARVIS at your fingertips that can perform actions on your behalf, provide conversational guidance on a single click, and share real-time information through AR functions.
Siri will also become screen-aware after its next update. From reading priority notifications to accessing information about every activity through screen-reading, Siri will provide better assistance without even touching your device.
Apple is also working on prioritizing notifications to help users avoid spam and access the ones that need urgent attention. While a notification summary feature is already there, Apple devices will soon be able to stack up notifications to further improve notification management. With these updates in line, it may finally be worth the wait for all under-impressed iPhone consumers across the world.
