New 'Invites' App by Apple Integrates AI, Music, and Photos for Effortless Event Hosting

Apple’s new Invites app lets users create event invitations, track RSVPs, and share playlists and photos. However, with features similar to Partiful, critics call it another case of Apple copying competitors.

Apple has launched Invites, a new app for creating and managing event invitations. Available for iOS 18 and later, the app allows users to design invitations, track RSVPs, and create event soundtracks. iCloud+ subscribers can create invitations, while anyone can RSVP via the app or web.

“With Apple Invites, an event comes to life from the moment the invitation is created, and users can share lasting memories even after they get together. We’re bringing together capabilities our users already know and love across iPhone, iCloud, and Apple Music,” said Brent Chiu-Watson, Apple’s senior director of Worldwide Product Marketing for Apps and iCloud.

Users can choose backgrounds from a curated collection, personal photos, or AI-generated images using Image Playground. Apple’s Writing Tools assist in composing invitations. The app integrates with Maps and Weather for directions and forecasts.

A collaborative playlist feature for Apple Music subscribers allows guests to contribute songs. A Shared Album lets attendees upload event photos and videos.

Apple Faces Backlash from Partiful for Alleged Feature Copying

Apple Invites streamlines event planning with AI-driven features and integrations. However, not everyone is thrilled with its debut. Partiful, a popular event-planning app, has criticized Apple, accusing the tech giant of copying its features. The platform competes with Evite, Paperless Post, Posh, and Sendo Invitations and claims that Apple's entry into the space threatens smaller competitors.

However, Apple defends its approach, stating that the app offers unique AI features and deeper iPhone integration, setting it apart from competitors.

Available for Free, But Invitation Creation Requires an iCloud+ Subscription

Apple Invites is free on the App Store and accessible at icloud.com/invites. While anyone can RSVP, iCloud+ subscribers (starting at $0.99/month) are required to create invitations. With Apple Intelligence, collaborative event soundtracks, and integrated privacy controls, Apple is expanding its ecosystem further into event planning.
