Nvidia GTC 2025: Jensen Huang Introduced ‘Blue,’ A Star-Wars-Inspired Robot Powered by AI
Date: March 20, 2025
Nvidia GPU Technology Conference (GTC) 2025 came with some of the best surprises for techies and nerds.
The Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang revealed Disney’s Star Wars-inspired Droid, ‘Blue,’ a pint-sized robot that’s got everyone excited for the intergalactic battle like it’s a droid straight out of Tatooine.
The conference was organized in the SAP Center on Tuesday, Mar 18, 2025.
In Huang’s words, it was nothing less than the literal ‘Superbowl of AI.’
If you are familiar with the Star Wars franchise, Blue will make you feel like you’re getting closer to becoming a part of it.
Blue sounds like the famous droid R2-D2 and understands communication so well. Even the motion is quite fluid.
Here’s the video of Huang introducing Blue to the world:
This child of Nvidia, Disney Research, and Google DeepMind has been nurtured for a while now, not to keep it cute but also smarter than almost all robots existing out there.
Think fine-tuned tactile feedback, slick motor skills, and real-time smarts, all wrapped up in a package that beeps and waddles like R2-D2’s cooler cousin.
During the keynote, Huang couldn’t hold back his excitement, saying, “Can you imagine just now what you were looking at is complete real-time simulation? This is how we're going to train robots in the future. Just so you know, Blue has two NVIDIA computers inside. Look how smart you are.”
Nvidia isn’t stopping, that’s for sure. How, at every conference, they’re delivering bangers that are shaping the future of tech is beyond mind-blowing. The tech giant is trying to solve so much, from reducing labor to enabling smooth motion in robots, and the efforts of geniuses in this company probably never take a pause.
The result?
Nvidia is coming up with solutions tackling labor shortages, revolutionizing robotics, and maybe even popping up at Disney parks one day (fingers crossed!).
Now, here’s the thing: Blue is powered by the Newton engine making smooth simulations of robotic movements in real-time possible.
The GPU-accelerated AI robot is ready to set a benchmark by making robots move and think like never before.
Throughout the demonstration, it was clearly seen that Blue understands commands well. You can ask it to move somewhere, it will
Ask it to stand, and it will
Ask it questions, and it will respond.
At this point, whether you’re a fan of AI robotics or skeptical about its impact on the future, AI isn’t going to stop. Instead, it’s transitioning itself to be more exciting with each release.
Anyway, among other announcements made at GTC 2025, Huang also announced that the Blackwell Platform had been promoted to the stage of ‘full production.’ Customers are demanding it more than ever, and NVIDIA is set to fulfill that demand.
