iOS 18.2 Beta Adds New AI Features And ChatGPT Integration
Date: October 24, 2024
Apple is bringing the second batch of AI features with the iOS 18.2 beta release, including ChatGPT integration and visual intelligence.
Before the first set of AI features arrive next week on the latest compatible Apple devices, Apple has unveiled a new set of AI features. However, the first iOS 18.1 will officially be released as per its announced date. The new version, named iOS 18.2 beta, is adding a completely new set of AI capabilities, including a surprising ChatGPT integration.
The company is preparing to roll out iOS 18.2, iPad OS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15, which will contain all the new AI features like visual intelligence through the camera, image generation tools, and Genmoji. The beta version is limited to developers and only works on devices with or greater than A17 Pro or M1 Chips. Apple has also released its first macOS Sequoia 15.2 developer beta with new Apple Intelligence features that have reached the stable stage.
The initial offerings provided with iOS 18.1, scheduled for launch next week, are not lucrative enough to increase purchase preference for the new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, the iPhone 16 line, and A17 Pro iPads. That might be the reason why Apple is teasing general users about upcoming AI features so that their purchases will be geared towards the future outlook of their usage experience.
Apple’s deal with OpenAI did not go through due to non-compliance with its privacy and security measures. That’s why the integration update with OpenAI’s flagship ChatGPT on the device level comes as a surprise for users. The company may have resolved privacy issues or could have compromised to attract more buyers for the time being.
Apart from the ChatGPT integration, Apple is bringing a powerful visual intelligence feature that utilizes the camera to identify and interact with real-world objects and provide real-time output on users’ requests.
