According to an exclusive Bloomberg cover report, Apple will not roll out Apple Intelligence during the launch of iOS 18.
Apple has always been an organization that pursues perfection. This ideology is reflected in the recent internal developments that are forcing the company to postpone the launch of Apple Intelligence. Though developers will get to test the new features as soon as this week, the iOS 18 public release will be missing the Apple Intelligence overhaul. iOS 18.1 will officially launch in September, and Apple Intelligence will gradually roll out as a feature upgrade in October.
Apple's global fanbase will have to wait a month longer to experience the AI revamp on iPhone and iPad. In fact, the complete rollout of new AI features will happen throughout 2024 and the next year as well. Apple Intelligence will be launched in the form of OS-level upgrades nearly a month after the iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 release. The first device to get these AI upgrades will be the iPhone 16 weeks after it is shipped to users.
This is the first time Apple has announced the follow-up upgrades before launching the initial public product. The stakes around launching AI capabilities on mobile devices are high, and Apple does not want to compromise users’ safety and privacy. Internal teams have highlighted stability concerns that Apple is addressing as it enters the final stage of development.
Instead of a full launch, Apple Intelligence will start appearing in the version update of iPhone 16 and other latest devices. Also, Apple Intelligence will not be making a grand launch. It will keep bringing new AI features with every version update after ensuring the successful and secure integration of every previous AI feature. Some of the most anticipated Artificial Intelligence features will be the new Siri, which will be missing during the iOS 18 launch.
