Date: November 07, 2025
Rockstar Games just confirmed another delay, moving the much-anticipated GTA 6 release date to November 19, 2026. Game lovers, brace yourselves, the countdown has reset.
This is a tough one, gamers. Seriously. The pain continues for fans eagerly waiting for Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6.
Rockstar Games, the powerhouse studio behind the Grand Theft Auto franchise, dropped a bombshell announcement. They confirmed that the game’s launch has been pushed back. The game was originally supposed to launch in fall 2025, then pushed to May 2026, and now they’re making the fans wait till November 19, 2026.
Hi everyone,
— Rockstar Games (@RockstarGames) November 6, 2025
Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026.
We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and… pic.twitter.com/yLX9KIiDzX
But there is a silver lining. The additional time is for a reason. Rockstar cited the need for "additional time" to achieve the quality fans have come to expect and deserve. It is all about polished visuals. It’s about perfection. For a game as popular and massive as GTA 6, that extra time can make all the difference. They promised players will get to experience the "sprawling state of Leonida" and a return to the iconic "modern-day Vice City."
The delay isn’t just bad news for gamers. It is sad news for investors as well. The parent company of Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (TTWO) shares dropped more than 7% in after-hours trading following the announcement. Still, there’s optimism! The studio says it believes this “is a great release window” and remains confident in delivering a title that meets blockbuster expectations.
Fans should mark their calendars. Rockstar is clearly prioritizing the final product. While the initial disappointment is real, we can take comfort in knowing that the extra months of development mean the final product will be polished, massive, and hopefully, glitch-free. The initial launch for Rockstar Games' GTA 6 will be focused entirely on the latest generation of consoles. This means the new GTA 6 release is exclusive to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Now, let us hope that we do not expect further delays from Rockstar in due course. For game lovers, there may be new trailers, gameplay deep-dives, or more official news about platforms, editions, and maybe PC. Until then, watch the second trailer for Rockstar Games' GTA 6.
