Google Unveils Ananta—Its Largest India Campus in Bengaluru for AI Innovation and Sustainability

Date: February 20, 2025

Google’s new Bengaluru campus, Ananta, features AI-driven workspaces, a 5,000-seat capacity, and a sustainable design for a smarter future.

Google is making a bold statement in India with the launch of Ananta in Bengaluru, its largest campus in the country. AND one of its biggest worldwide! The 1.6-million-square-foot facility, located in Bengaluru’s Mahadevapura area, is designed to house more than 5,000 employees. But beyond the numbers, it represents a major step forward in Google’s AI-first strategy and commitment to sustainability.

‘Ananta’—which means ‘infinite’ in Sanskrit reflects Google’s ambition to push boundaries in AI, cloud computing, and digital innovation (especially in India). The campus will serve as a hub for multiple teams. This will include those working on Android, Search, Google Pay, Cloud, and even DeepMind.

A Workspace That Feels Like a City

Rather than a traditional office layout, Ananta is structured more like a city. Google has designed the workspace into "neighborhoods." Thus fostering collaboration while maintaining flexibility. At the heart of the campus is 'Sabha'—a grand communal gathering space designed for discussions, events, and brainstorming sessions.

And it’s not just about function. The office integrates one of the largest electrochromic glass installations in India. These 'Hi-fi' glasses automatically adjust to optimize natural light while reducing energy consumption.

Here’s a look at the Campus By Google Itself!

Sustainability at Its Core

Google has ensured that Ananta is as environmentally responsible as it is futuristic. The campus recycles 100% of its wastewater, uses rainwater harvesting, and is surrounded by a carefully designed ‘Aranya’ forest, which acts as a natural buffer against noise pollution.

Is Google Looking at India as an Epicentre for AI Development?

The timing of this launch isn’t accidental. As Google doubles down on AI, it needs a strong operational base in India—a country that’s home to some of the best AI talent in the world. With Ananta, Google is setting the stage for India to play a bigger role in its global AI ambitions.
