Figma is boosting its platform with Google's Gemini AI, promising faster workflows, innovative image generation, and design collaboration for its 13 million active users.
Figma decided to team up with Google, bringing AI capabilities into its design tools. The partnership introduces several Gemini AI models, like Gemini 2.5 Flash, Gemini 2.0, and Imagen 4, into Figma's platform. The ultimate goal is to have better creativity and smoother workflows for the 13 million people using Figma monthly.
This collaboration could also change how designers work, making processes more intuitive and faster. Gemini 2.5 Flash lets Figma users generate and edit images just by typing prompts. Moreover, Figma’s “Make Image” feature was previously tested with Gemini 2.5 Flash and showed a 50% reduction in latency, promising a significant boost in efficiency.
Figma's CEO Dylan Field said,
"Our collaboration with Google Cloud brings powerful image generation and editing capabilities into Figma that help teams tap into their creativity without breaking their flow."
Figma's Relationship with Google Cloud
The new features will also rely on Google Cloud’s AI systems and cybersecurity tools. Figma has maintained a longstanding relationship with Google Cloud, and this recent partnership is set to expand its capabilities further.
Moreover, Google also recently announced similar collaborations with major brands like GAP, Klarna, Mercedes, and Klarna, extending the reach of its Gemini models across various sectors. Now, with Figma integrating Gemini AI into its design toolkit, it joins a growing list of companies embracing AI to boost productivity and creativity.
