Apple Wants Your iPhone to Be Your Next Doctor: AI Health Coach Coming with iOS 19.4
Date: April 01, 2025
Apple’s upcoming AI health coach, codenamed Project Mulberry, aims to turn your iPhone into a personalized, pocket-sized medical assistant.
Looks like Apple wants to put a virtual doctor in your pocket.
According to multiple reports, Apple is gearing up to launch an AI-powered health coach as part of its iPhone Health app, likely to be introduced with iOS 19. Internally dubbed "Project Mulberry," the feature would mark Apple’s biggest move yet into digital healthcare.
So what’s the plan? The AI doctor—possibly called "Health+"—will tap into your health data from your iPhone, Apple Watch, and other devices to offer real-time, personalized coaching. That includes everything from workout and sleep suggestions to nutrition tips and even food tracking.
From Data Collector to Health Advisor
Until now, Apple’s Health app has mostly acted like a dashboard, collecting and organizing data like your heart rate, steps, and oxygen levels. But Project Mulberry would turn it into something far more proactive. Think of it as a smart assistant that actually knows your habits and nudges you toward healthier ones.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has already started training the system using data from its in-house physicians and plans to bring in more medical professionals to fine-tune its accuracy.
Why Now?
This comes at a time when Big Tech is leaning harder into health tech. Google is exploring AI diagnostics, Amazon is expanding telehealth, and now Apple wants to make your phone a wellness partner.
Although, Tim Cook has long said that the legacy of Apple will be Health, in a 2019 interaction, the CEO said:
"If you zoom out into the future, and you look back, and you ask the question, 'What was Apple’s greatest contribution to mankind?' it will be about health."
And yes, it's also a smart business move. The health tech market is booming, and Apple wants a bigger slice.
The AI coach is expected to debut at WWDC 2025 in June, alongside iOS 19. While Apple hasn’t confirmed the details yet, it’s clear the company is serious about making health a core part of its ecosystem.
If all goes to plan, the iPhone might soon do more than just count your steps—it could actually help you figure out why you’re tired, suggest how to fix it, and keep you accountable along the way.
