Amazon Rivals Temu And Shein With Amazon Haul Discount Store
Date: November 19, 2024
Amazon has entered the ultra low-priced eCommerce category, rivaling the two globally dominating entities, Temu and Shein.
Amazon has brought relief to users affected by Temu and Shein’s region-specific bans worldwide. While the companies have put proactive efforts to eliminate controversies and security skepticism among regulators, they lost the traditional trust. Amazon is answering to the trust aspect by entering the ultra-low priced mass production eCommerce industry by launching the Amazon Haul store.
Much like the interface of Shein and its counterparts, the Amazon Haul store comes with items appearing in grids. The products are shipped overseas from China, and Amazon has failed to reduce the delivery times from weeks to days. However, at the core, Amazon is playing on the trust factor of its robust technology, established delivery network, and years of success record.
Amazon’s departure from its long-established reputation of being the rapid delivery leader globally, with some as fast as the same day for Prime members, is a big leap. To keep things safe, at least during the market entry period, the Amazon Haul store resembles the user hook patterns of Temu and Shein. That’s why the new discounted products store does not resemble anything from the typical Amazon eCommerce platform except for the logo and brand colors.
The crazy low prices, diverse catalog of exclusive products, and the considerable acceptance of delivery waiting periods will play a critical role in capturing the market share currently dominated by Temu and Shein. Temu’s mobile app has 42 million dowloads and Shein has crossed 14.7 million downloads. Amazon Haul store app is available in mobile app and mobile browser version only.
“While Amazon continues to offer over 300 million items with fast, free delivery for Prime members […] we also hear from customers that sometimes they would love to shop ultra-low-priced products even if some of them take one to two weeks to arrive,”
-Amazon about its recent move in a blog post.
One added value feature of the Amazon discount store is the free return policy till 15 days from purchase if the order value exceeds $3. Amazon has also claimed to have already done exhaustive screening of its vendors to ensure fake products and scammers do not get listed.
