According to multiple reports, the Chinese tech giant is preparing to release Qwen 3, the next evolution of its large language model, as soon as this month (April 2025). If confirmed, the release would mark a BIG step in Alibaba’s ongoing effort to catch up with global AI frontrunners like OpenAI and Google.
The news was first reported by Bloomberg, citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter. While a firm launch date hasn’t been publicly confirmed, the window is reportedly set for later in April.
It’s no secret that Alibaba has been ramping up its AI ambitions. In February, the company introduced Qwen 2.5-Max during the Lunar New Year — a move widely seen as a response to rivals like DeepSeek and Baidu. Now, with Qwen 3 in the pipeline, the stakes are even higher.
