The initiative is believed to bring enhanced features to add to the enhanced messaging experience on mobile devices. Google is currently working with at least 43 carriers as well as device manufacturers so that the Native messaging experience can be made better for the users.
Rich Communication Services or RCS enhances SMS with branding, analytics, and rich media. With Rich Communication Services embedded perfectly in the services of a brand, it can easily enhance the experience for the users right to the default messaging application. The approach offers easy ways to bring innovation in the message communication of the brand for the users.
Google has always worked on the ways to make services easily and interactively available for the users. Last year the giant multinational created Early Access Program to make it easy for brands to participate in the RCS business messaging module. Today, a number of companies located in regions such as U.S & Mexico are able to interact better with the clients owing to Google’s interactive RCS.
Using RCS by a brand means it can get much more interactive with its messaging services towards the users. For example, a brand can send product images to the users rather than just sending the text messages to the users in order to influence them to buy something without leaving the messaging app. With Google’s innovative initiative, customers who already have opted in for the SMS messages from a business get this experience automatically in the Android messaging.

In the U.S., we’ve collaborated with Sprint to enable campaigns with 1-800 Contacts, 1-800-Flowers.com, Booking.com, SnapTravel and Subway, among others, along with messaging partners 3C, CM.com, Mobivity, OpenMarket, Smooch and Twilio. We’re also working with Telcel to bring campaigns to Mexico soon with 5 Piso, Broxel, DHL Mexico and Secretaria de Salud along with messaging partners Airmovil, Auronix, Aldeamo, and Tiaxa.
