CutOut.Pro Review: Can This AI Tool Finally Make Photo Editing Less Annoying?

Cutout Pro

You open an image, thinking, “This will take two minutes”. Then suddenly you’re zooming into weird cutout edges, fixing backgrounds that somehow look worse after removing them, hunting for another tool because the first one only solved half the problem, and wondering why something so basic still takes this much effort.

That’s pretty much how I ended up trying CutOut Pro.

Not because I was desperately looking for an “AI-powered editing revolution” or whatever fancy phrase tools love throwing around, but because I genuinely wanted something that could make small editing jobs feel… less irritating. Remove a background quickly, clean up an image, fix a photo without opening five tabs and mentally prepare for a task I was already avoiding.

And to be fair, CutOut Pro promises to do it all! Faster edits, AI-powered background removal, image enhancement and cleaner results with less effort. Sounds great in theory. But theory and actually using a tool are two very different things.

So I spent time testing CutOut Pro properly to see if it actually makes photo editing easier. Here’s my Cutout.Pro review detailing its features, pros and cons, working, and much more.

Pros and Cons of Cutout Pro

Pros

  • Background removal is fast and precise, even on complex subjects like hair and pet fur
  • Batch processing handles up to 1,000 images simultaneously, genuinely useful for e-commerce workflows
  • Fully browser-based, no install required, accessible from any device
  • Credit rollovers on subscription plans prevent waste
  • API access available for developers who want to integrate Cutout Pro into existing pipelines
  • Covers a wide range of editing needs within one platform (removal, restoration, generation and editing)

Cons

  • Processing slows noticeably on large or complex files; we recorded up to 7 seconds per image during testing
  • Manual control is limited; automation is the feature, but it's also the ceiling
  • Pay-as-you-go pricing is expensive for occasional users
  • No offline mode; a weak or unstable connection stalls everything

A Closer Look at Cutout.Pro Features

Cutout Pro is a browser-based AI visual editing platform. The platform integrates several AI models, including Flux and Imagen 4.0, which gives it more depth than a first glance suggests.

CutOut Pro packs in a bunch of AI-powered editing tools that aim to make photo cleanup faster and less frustrating. From background removal and image enhancement to photo retouching, quality upscaling, and the Cutout Pro enhancer for sharpening and improving image quality, here’s a closer look at the features that stand out the most.

1. AI Removal Tools

The removal tools remain Cutout Pro's strongest and most reliable category. Background removal is fast, fully automatic, and handles edge detection well across subjects, including people, products, animals, and illustrated icons.

Batch processing is supported, and video background removal, up to 4K in MP4, WebM, MOV, and GIF formats, remains a genuine differentiator in this space. That said, accuracy on complex edges like fine hair, glass, and transparent objects ranges from roughly 85% to 92%.  For most e-commerce and content workflows, that's more than sufficient.

Object removal handles watermarks, date stamps, blemishes, and physical damage on older photos. It reduces retouching time on straightforward jobs but can still struggle to fill convincingly on complex backgrounds and organic textures.

Face Cutout extracts faces with fine-detail preservation, hair strands, soft edges, and works on portraits, pet photos, and illustrated faces. Portrait-mode images produce the best results.

2. AI Restore & Enhance Tools

The platform covers photo retouching, including skin smoothing and blemish removal, photo colorization, and photo upscaling to higher resolutions. The Photo Enhancer now offers two modes, Quality and Fidelity, for brightening and sharpening or making minimal adjustments to preserve the original look. The Photo Colorizer converts black-and-white images to color with naturally rendered skin tones.

New additions here include the Cutout Pro Photo Enhancer, a higher-fidelity variant of the standard enhancer, and the Anime Enhancer, which is specifically tuned for illustrated and anime-style content, a niche but useful addition for digital creators.

3. AI Video Tools

This category has seen the most significant expansion. Beyond video background removal and the Photo Animer (which adds looping motion to still images), Cutout. Pro now includes:

  • Image to Video: converts still photos into short video clips
  • AI Video Enhancer: upscales video resolution and reduces blur with a 4K quality filter
  • Seedance 2.0: a newly launched video generation model for creating AI video content
  • Sketch to Video: generates video output from drawn sketches
  • Animate Old Photos: brings still historical or archival photos to life with subtle motion
  • Product Video: generates short video ads directly from a product URL
  • Digital Human Video: creates video content featuring AI-generated digital human presenters
  • Text to Speech: generates voiceover audio to pair with video content

Photo-to-video animation using dynamic templates is also available, with a community gallery showcasing examples across e-commerce, portraiture, and restoration use cases.

4. AI Generation

Cutout Pro offers some of the best tools for AI generation. From AI art generators, coloring page generators, greeting card generators, and more. The platform includes a dedicated AI Models hub with side-by-side comparison tools for image generation and image editing, letting you choose between different underlying models for a given task, a meaningful improvement in transparency.

Some of the top tools include an AI Headshot Generator, an AI Portrait Art Generator, an AI Greeting Card Generator, an AI Coloring Page Generator, an AI Wallpaper Generator, an AI Embroidery Generator, and an AI Wall Art Generator.

The original Cutout pro’s AI art generator and Cartoon Selfie remain, supporting styles including cartoon, anime, oil painting, and pencil sketch. However, from my experience with the tools, the output consistency still varies by prompt and style, but the expanded model selection gives users more control than before.

5. AI E-commerce Tools

E-commerce has become one of Cutout.Pro's most developed verticals. Alongside the existing E-commerce Auto Design (batch editing for consistent product presentation), the platform now offers:

  • AI Virtual Model: places products on AI-generated human models, removing the need for live model photography
  • AI Product Staging:  places products into lifestyle scene environments
  • AI E-commerce Product Image:  generates complete product listing images
  • AI POD Generation: creates print-on-demand product mockups
  • E-commerce Product Posters: produces formatted promotional poster assets

For online sellers managing large catalogs, this cluster of tools represents a meaningful reduction in photography and design overhead.

6. AI Portrait & Identity Tools

Beyond Face Cutout and Cartoon Selfie, the portrait category now includes an AI Hairstyle Change tool, a Virtual Try-On feature for clothing, Photo Effects, Sketch Rendering, and a Photo to Sketch converter. The Cutout Pro Passport Photo Maker is a free, newer and more capable variant of the original passport tool, though, as before, manual review before official submission is advisable.

7. AI Design Tools

The AI Design section accommodates a range of visual requirements, including an AI Poster Generator, an AI Design Generator, an AI Nail Generator, an AI Tattoo Generator, and an updated Meme Generator with expanded template and text overlay options. The Image Series tool allows for generating consistent sets of images, useful for campaigns requiring visual cohesion across multiple assets.

What Can You Use Cutout Pro For?

Cutout Pro isn't a single-purpose tool, and its value depends entirely on what you're using it for. The platform covers a wide range of workflows across industries, from e-commerce and design to developer integrations and nonprofit work. Here's where it actually earns its keep-

Use Case How Cutout Pro Helps
E-commerce Auto Design Batch-removes backgrounds from product images and applies clean, uniform backdrops, useful for online sellers managing large catalogs on tight turnarounds.
Interior Design Lets designers and decorators place furniture or décor elements into room mockups by removing original backgrounds and compositing against new environments.
Image Design Provides graphic designers with quick cutout and enhancement tools to isolate subjects, create compositions, and build visual assets without heavy manual selection work.
ID Photo Maker Generates passport and visa-compliant photos from standard portraits, with auto-formatting to document specifications across multiple countries.
Old Photo Restoration Colorizes black-and-white images, removes scratches and damage, and upscales resolution, useful for personal archiving and heritage projects.
Customized Printing Supports print-on-demand workflows by preparing clean, background-free product and artwork images ready for merch, packaging, and POD platforms.
Developer / API Exposes background removal and editing capabilities via API, so developers can build Cutout Pro's AI functions directly into their own apps and pipelines.
Video XR Removes video backgrounds without a green screen, enabling virtual production, XR content, and clean video compositing for creators and studios.
Image to Video Animates still images into short video clips using AI motion models, useful for social content creators who want to add movement to static visuals.
Nonprofits Offers discounted access for registered nonprofit organizations needing visual content creation tools for campaigns and communications.

Cutout.Pro Pricing and Subscription

Cutout Pro AI runs on a credit-based model with two routes: monthly subscriptions for regular users, and pay-as-you-go packs for occasional use. Before getting into the numbers, it helps to know how credits are actually consumed, because that changes what a plan is worth in practice.

How Credits Work

1 credit: Cutout Pro Background remover, image retouch

2 credits: Cutout Pro Image Enhancer, Cartoon selfie, passport photo maker, photo colorizer

So an 80-credit/month plan isn't 80 background removals if you're also running enhancements and colorizations alongside it. Factor in the mix of tools you'll actually use.

1. Subscription Plans

Credits/Month Price/Month Cost per Credit
80 $5.00 $0.063
170 $9.90 $0.058
300 $16.90 $0.056
550 $29.00 $0.053
1,000 $49.00 $0.049
1,450 $69.00 $0.048

*Unused credits roll over month to month, up to 5x your monthly budget, so if you're on the 170-credit plan, you can accumulate up to 850 credits before the cap kicks in. That's a real differentiator over plans that wipe your balance on renewal.

All subscriptions come with a 14-day money-back guarantee, capped at 50 downloads. Cancellation, upgrades, and downgrades are available at any time with no long-term lock-in.

2. Pay-as-You-Go

Credits Price Cost per Credit
30 $4.99 $0.166
300 $39.00 $0.130
900 $79.00 $0.088
3,000 $199.00 $0.066
30,000 $1,399.00 $0.047

*Pay-as-you-go credits don't expire, which is the appeal. The trade-off is cost: at the 30-credit entry pack, you're paying $0.166 per credit versus $0.063 on the cheapest subscription. If you use Cutout Pro more than once a month, the subscription math is straightforward.

3. Which Plan Makes Sense

For e-commerce sellers or content creators running regular batches, the $9.90/month plan (170 credits) is the practical entry point; the $5.00 plan's 80 credits go quickly once 2-credit tools are in the mix.

Casual users who need the Cutout Pro background remover occasionally are better served by the 30-credit pay-as-you-go pack at $4.99, which covers 30 basic operations without a recurring commitment.

There's no meaningful free trial beyond a 5-credit preview allocation. If you're evaluating the platform seriously, the $5.00/month plan is the minimum spend to test it with real volume.

Cutout Pro Alternatives

Cutout Pro handles a lot well, but it isn't the right fit for every workflow. If the credit model feels restrictive, the tool breadth feels like overkill, or the data privacy concerns are a dealbreaker, here are three alternatives that cover the same core use cases.

MobileAppDaily’s Final Verdict for Cutout Pro

I’ll be straightforward, Cutout Pro earned a spot in my regular workflow. After putting it through its paces for this Cutout Pro review, I was impressed enough to share it with my team and see if they felt the same.

Based on the Cutout.Pro reviews collected from my team, we believe that the core tools are where this platform shines. Background removal is fast, edge detection is above average, and the batch processing makes it a legitimate choice for any team handling large volumes of product images.

What surprised us the most was the depth beyond the headline feature. Restoration, colorization, AI art, e-commerce staging, video background removal, and digital human tools are all built in.

It's a much broader platform than it first appears, and for a team that needs to move quickly across multiple visual tasks without juggling five different subscriptions, that breadth has real value.

That said, we'll be honest about where it falls short. The AI generation tools are inconsistent; you can burn through credits on outputs that simply don't match the prompt. The pay-as-you-go credit model gets expensive if you're not on a subscription, and the sheer number of tools across five category hubs means new users will need some time to find their footing.

One thing we can't overlook: the Cutout Pro app suffered a significant data breach in February 2024, with a database dump of over 20 million records, including emails, names, IP addresses, and hashed passwords, posted publicly on BreachForums.

The company, however, called the breach claim a ‘clear scam’. This wasn't their first incident either; a server exposure in 2023 leaked customer data, including usernames and account details. For casual product photography, the risk is manageable. For anything involving client or sensitive material, we'd think twice.

For content creators, marketers, and e-commerce teams that need speed and volume, Cutout Pro delivers. Where it hasn't fully caught up is on the creative generation side, the removal and editing tools are the strength, and the AI art features trail that standard. But for the workflows that matter most to most teams, it earns its subscription cost.

Our Verdict: Conditionally Approved, recommended for e-commerce and content teams, with reservations on data privacy.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ
  • Is Cutout Pro safe to use?

Cutout Pro suffered a verified data breach in February 2024 that exposed over 41 million user records, and the company denied the incident despite independent verification by Have I Been Pwned. For general product and marketing images, it's workable, but we'd avoid uploading sensitive client material until they demonstrate stronger security transparency.

  • How do I use Cutout Pro for free?

Cutout Pro offers a free tier that gives you 5 credits on signup, which you can use across most tools, including background removal and photo enhancement. It's enough for a quick test but not a thorough evaluation. Low-resolution previews are free and unlimited, but HD downloads require credits.

  • What is Cutout Pro best used for?

Cutout Pro is best suited for e-commerce sellers, content creators, and marketers who need to process large volumes of images quickly. Background removal, batch editing, and product staging are where it consistently delivers the most value.

  • Does Cutout Pro work on video?

Yes, video background removal is one of Cutout Pro's standout features, supporting up to 4K resolution across MP4, WebM, MOV, and GIF formats. It also includes newer video tools like Image to Video, AI Video Enhancer, and Animate Old Photos.

  • How does Cutout Pro's pricing work?

Cutout Pro uses a credit-based system where different tools consume different credit amounts per task. You can either subscribe (starting at around $5.00/month for 80 credits) for a monthly credit allowance or buy credits on a pay-as-you-go basis. Subscriptions offer significantly better per-image value for regular users.
