Meta’s new AI feature translates Reels into other languages while keeping your own voice and style, making global reach more authentic.
Meta has officially launched an AI-powered dubbing tool that enables creators to translate their Facebook and Instagram Reels using a voice that sounds authentic—complete with tone, style, and optional lip-synced visuals.
1. How It Works: The new feature uses advanced AI to translate spoken content and recreate it in the creator’s own voice, preserving authenticity and expression. Creators also have the option to enable lip-syncing so the dubbed audio matches their mouth movements, making it appear as if they’re speaking the new language.
2. Languages Available: The feature currently supports translations between English and Spanish, in both directions. More languages are expected to arrive in future updates.
3. Who Can Use It
4. How to Enable It: Creators can toggle on “Translate your voice with Meta AI” before publishing a Reel. They can also choose to add lip-syncing and preview the translated version before posting.
5. AI-Translation Labels & Control: Reels dubbed via AI include a visible label indicating that they are AI-translated. Viewers can set preferences to disable translated versions in specific languages.
6. Performance Insights: Meta has added analytics to its Insights dashboard, allowing creators to track how their translated content performs across different language audiences.
7. Advanced Options for Facebook Creators: Facebook creators can also upload up to 20 manually dubbed audio tracks per Reel through Meta Business Suite—useful for multilingual content or custom translations created outside of Meta AI.
8. Geographical Availability: The rollout excludes certain regions where Meta AI isn't operational—this includes parts of the European Union, the UK, and even some U.S. states like Texas and Illinois.
This launch marks a meaningful step toward removing language barriers for content creators. By combining voice cloning and lip-synced translation, Meta provides a seamless, culturally adaptive way to reach more audiences without losing the creator’s unique presence.
For creators, it means:
Nevertheless, some limitations remain:
