With vibrant new colors, a groundbreaking horizontal camera system, and the powerful A19 Pro chip, Apple's flagship devices promise to redefine premium smartphones at the September 9 event.
Apple is all set to launch its brand new iPhone 17 Pro on September 9 at 10 am. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to headline the show with a bold new design and performance punch. Now, let’s look at the top features you can expect;
Industry insiders have confirmed that Orange and Dark Blue can join the Pro lineup alongside traditional Black, White, and Steel Gray options. This can mark Apple's most adventurous color palette for its premium devices. The Orange variant is described by sources as having a fluorescent quality.
This year, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are tipped for major design changes. Firstly, the smartphone could feature a partially aluminium and glass design on the rear panel. Therefore, Apple may eliminate the use of titanium altogether.
The most striking visual change comes in the form of a horizontal camera bar that spans the width of the device. This redesigned system houses an upgraded 48-megapixel telephoto lens alongside the existing wide and ultra-wide cameras, creating a uniform 48MP trio that promises professional-grade photography capabilities with up to 8x zoom.
Adding to the camera prowess, both Pro models will reportedly capture 8K video and introduce a dual recording feature that simultaneously captures footage from both rear and front cameras. This makes it perfect for content creators who need to capture multiple angles in a single take.
Under the hood, the A19 Pro chip built on TSMC's advanced 3nm process powers these flagships, paired with an unprecedented 12GB of RAM. This can be a 50% increase from previous generations. Moreover, Apple is expected to bring major performance upgrades to iPhone 17 Pro models with the A19 Pro chip. This chip is expected to be built with an upgraded version of TSMC's 3nm process.
The iPhone 17 Pro models will likely be equipped with a vapour chamber cooling system for improved thermal performance. This way, users can push the smartphone's limits, such as playing 3D games or recording ProRes video for a longer duration, without any performance struggles.
The iPhone 17 Pro models are expected to get a new anti-reflective glass, making it more scratch-resistant than the current Ceramic Shield display. This advanced coating promises better outdoor visibility while maintaining Apple's industry-leading durability standards.
Lastly, the Pro models are tipped to get upgraded battery life. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is rumoured to be backed by a 5000mAh battery. In addition, Apple could also bring software-based enhancements to improve the battery life of the flagships. The thicker 8.7mm profile of the Pro Max accommodates this larger power cell without compromising the device's premium feel.
The keynote will start at 10:00 am PT (10:30 pm IST) and can be watched live on Apple's website, YouTube channel, and Apple TV app. The tech giant is expected to launch the iPhone 17 series along with new Apple Watches, AirPods Pro 3, and other hardware updates.
The Pro models aren't the only stars of tomorrow's show. Apple is also pulling the wraps off the standard iPhone 17 and that impossibly thin iPhone 17 Air everyone's been talking about, and it's just 6.25mm thick with a buttery-smooth 120Hz display.
Apple will unveil the Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3, which are expected to bring 5G connectivity and potential blood pressure monitoring. The AirPods Pro 3 will debut with an H3 chip and heart-rate tracking capabilities.
Pre-orders are expected to begin September 12, with devices hitting stores on September 19. While pricing remains unconfirmed, industry analysts predict the Pro models will maintain their premium positioning, starting around $999 for the iPhone 17 Pro and $1,199 for the Pro Max.
