Google released its November core update yesterday and will take about two weeks to roll out globally.
Google released its November core update yesterday to improve the quality of search results and bring forward valuable content for global users. As the Google November core update rolls out in about two weeks, the result may disappoint all the negatively impacted websites waiting to recover from the rank drop from the last core update.
Core updates arrive multiple times a year and significantly change the broader search algorithm. After the August core update, many websites that produced content to improve search rankings rather than add value to the reader were hit hard. Google posted about the August core update on LinkedIn:
“This update is designed to continue our work to improve the quality of our search results by showing more content that people find genuinely useful and less content that feels like it was made just to perform well on Search.”
The websites impacted by the August core update should not expect any recovery for the efforts made after the rankings dropped. The November core update will not help in recovering the dropped rankings and other metrics as it does not focus on those aspects. However, Google has shared that a positive impact can be expected from the next core update onwards.
Google shared the below-mentioned advisory to all those negatively impacted by the November core update:
For those who remain on-track, Google says:
“There’s nothing new or special that creators need to do for this update as long as they’ve been making satisfying content meant for people. For those that might not be ranking as well, we strongly encourage reading our creating helpful, reliable, people-first content help page.”
According to Google, the first core update of 2024, rolled out in March, was one of the biggest in Google’s history. It started on 5th March 2024 and lasted 45 days before the rollout was complete. One common learning in all of the 2024 core updates is that websites need to be equipped with the best SEO tools and practices to ensure that they don’t cause a negative outcome for their efforts.
