Anthropic’s Series F funding round raises $13 billion, propelling its valuation and positioning it for rapid growth in the competitive AI landscape.
In a remarkable leap, Anthropic, the AI startup founded by former OpenAI executives, has seen its valuation soar to $183 billion post-money, more than doubling its previous valuation of $61.5 billion from just a few months ago. This monumental shift follows the company’s successful Series F funding round, in which it raised a whopping $13 billion, marking one of the largest funding rounds in AI history.
The funding round was led by ICONIQ, with key co-investors such as Fidelity Management & Research, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and Qatar Investment Authority, alongside heavyweights like Blackstone and Coatue. Anthropic plans to allocate the funds to meet the rising demand for AI solutions in enterprise markets, advance critical safety research, and further bolster its international expansion to provide more reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems.
Since the beginning of 2025, the company's revenue run-rate has grown exponentially, from around $1 billion to an impressive $5 billion by August. This explosive growth underscores the increasing demand for Anthropic’s products, particularly its Claude AI models, which have gained significant traction in the AI community.
Anthropic, which counts tech giants Alphabet and Amazon as backers, continues to be a fierce competitor to OpenAI in the race to dominate AI technologies. The company’s AI models excel in coding tasks, and in August, Anthropic launched Opus 4.1, an upgraded version designed for complex agentic tasks, coding, and advanced reasoning.
In a significant move, Anthropic offered its Claude AI model to the U.S. government for just $1, positioning itself alongside OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini as approved AI vendors for government use.
The confidence of investors is clear, with Krishna Rao, Anthropic’s finance chief, noting that the funding round reflects both the company’s financial performance and the growing collaboration with key partners to fuel its expansion. Meanwhile, rumors suggest that Amazon is considering an additional multibillion-dollar investment to further solidify its relationship with Anthropic.
This surge in funding comes amidst a broader surge in U.S. startup funding, which jumped by 75.6% in the first half of 2025, largely driven by major investments in AI technologies, according to PitchBook data.
With its latest funding and stellar growth, Anthropic is poised to continue its rapid ascent in the competitive AI landscape, setting the stage for what could be a game-changing year for the company.
