Recent Changes You Need to know in the Redesigned Snapchat

Snapchat, the social media giants teased the users with the redesigned platform via a video on Wednesday. Earlier, this month Evan Spiegel, CEO Snapchat announced that the Snapchat will be getting a new design to make it simpler and easy to use. The redesigned Snapchat focuses more on to separate personal and social media content for the users. The company has revamped the Snapchat with the aim to break down the complex and hard to use interface into a user-friendly platform.

“We are separating the social from the media, and taking an important step forward towards strengthening our relationships with our friends and our relationships with the media,” said Evan Spiegel in the launching video of redesigned Snapchat. The company adds a clean look with more personalized content to the app. However, the basic functionalities of taking a snap, sending snaps to friends and finding friends remains the same.

With the upcoming update, the users will be getting some key changes in the app, including the auto-advance for stories and no more story pages. In addition to this, the company is also adding a new algorithm to the app that will drive the personalized content to your feed. In order to beat Instagram, the Snapchat is breaking out of its shell for the users.

1.No More Story Pages

Snapchat is finally getting rid of its story pages, now the user’s personal chat and the friend's stories will be on a single page ‘Friends’. As usual, the app will open in the camera, but the swiping left will take you to the ‘Friends’ page showing stories and the swiping right will open the Discover.

This step is taken by the company to draw a line between the publisher's content and personal communication for the users. Prior to this, the stories and publisher’s content exist together on the same page. However, this will might affect the publishers, as being separated from the user’s personal content could make the Discover content unnoticed may time by the users.

2. Auto Advance is Back and SnapMap Comes in Front

Snapchat pulled back the auto-advance feature in last October, that ques the story one after another while you are watching them. The feature will ask you to play the next story from your friends and you can keep going just by tapping. By serving the users more and more stories will make the users to consume more content. The company is also bringing the SnapMap in front that can be now assessed alongside the search bar.

3. Algorithm for More Personalized Stuff

Snapchat says it is adding a new algorithm to the platform that will read your activities to serve you the best. The Snapchat’s algorithm will use the machine learning and place your friends in the order you would like to talk to them. The Snapchat’s newly added algorithm will also manage the DIscover content for users to prioritize the stuff that user like to watch. Your actions such as which post you like or which friend's post you have shared and commented and frequent actions will help the Snapchat to determine what you will like to see the most.

With the redesigned Snapchat, Evan Spiegel is trying to bring back the lost popularity of Snapchat and once again elevate the user's growth. Undoubtedly, simplifying the user interface and making Snapchat a well- balanced platform to serve personal and publisher’s content distinctly will help the company. However, the things Snapchat added to the app were already adopted by Instagram a long time ago and it's managing them perfectly. Now, it will be interesting to see how the users will respond to the redesigned Snapchat.
