Snapchat Flaunts Its E-Commerce Potential With Snap Store

The new products will be coming on next thursday

Potential With Snap

Snapchat, the social media sharing platform just added one more service for its users. The company has just launched an e-commerce store within the app providing its own merchandise. The store contains various products for Snapchat users to buy directly from the company. However, the company said the aim of the move isn't monetization, but we just don't buy that.

Starting from today, you will find Snap Store in the Discover section showing all the available merchandise from the company. All you need to do is just Snap the below-given code from the Snapchat camera to access the Snap Store. In case you are using a mobile, just hit this link and explore the store. In the Snap store, you will find some items like Dancing Hot Dog Plushie, Dog Lens T-Shirt and all that are available at premium prices for a limited time period. So, if you are a Snap fan and want to show off with cool merchandise of your favorite app you better rush now.

For now, you can buy Dancing Hot Dog Plush Doll ($19.99), Streak Hat ($29.99), Winkface, Sweatshirt ($49.99), Dog Lens Tee ( $29.99), Bring Back Best Friends Sweatshirt ($49.99) in the store. The store also offers a subscription option that will alert you with a pop-up on the arrival of new products. According to Snapchat, the new items will hit the store on 8th February.

Snap Inc. says that it didn't launch the Store with the goal of generating revenue. A Snapchat spokesperson also explained that there is no plan for monetizing the Snap store yet. We are doing this all just to show our loyalty to the users and community. However, starting its own e-commerce platform within the app could attract big brands in the coming time to sell their premium products exclusively only to the Snap users. There is one more thing worth noticing that while making the payment Snapchat will ask you to save your payment details. This could be to build a database of user's information to ease future purchase.

However, this is not the first time Snap Inc. is selling its merchandise products to promote and market the brand. Earlier, it has also sold items like Ghostface Chillah backpack and Dancing Hot Dog Halloween costume and Snap Spectacles through Amazon or other retailers. But, this is the first time the company has directly offering the consumers via its app.
