Though not directly, Google revised its official notice for all Android Beta program users, urging them to wait for the public release of Android 15 in October.
Google is finally reaching the launch phase of its long-awaited Android 15. The tech giant has finished beta 4.2 and is moving towards Quarterly Platform Release 1. This means that the official public version of Android 15 will be launched within one month. Google released an OTA downgrade notice this morning, which was later revised to inform its Beta Program users.
Google has urged all Android Beta Program users to wait until October to get the official public version of Android 15. However, this notice is limited to Pixel device users only. Those who wish to opt out will need to downgrade from Android 15 beta 4.2 to the last public release version of Android 14.
According to Android Authority, who blew this information all over the internet, the stable version of Android 15 will not be released even by the middle of October. The publication is confident about a no-release next month. If this scenario is to be considered, the new flagship mobile phones of the Pixel 9 series will come with the stable version of Android 14 and a security patch for September 2024. This was expected in all other Android and Android partner devices.
The platform developer community has shown a strong discernment for the delay in the Android 15 launch, as the finalized month has been shifting from July onwards, reaching October now. A majority of the developers who have access to the Android 15 source code expressed that beta 4.2 is highly stable and should not require much optimization.
However, the company is working on stabilizing the final Android 15 before launching it first for Pixel phones and then worldwide later. The new Android phones will get some features backported from the Android 15 beta. These may include hidden Android features like Private space, a new Material You volume panel, and tweaks to the widgets picker.
