Sneak peak on the WhatsApp latest features
WhatsApp caters to more than 1.3 million users worldwide and keeps delighting them with a number of exceptional features. Among such delightful features, one exceptional is “lock recording feature” that is available to beta Android users for now. In order to use the feature, the users need to tap the mic icon for at least 0.5 seconds to have a new UI. This user interface will then display a locked microphone button.
As soon as the lock option appears, the users can easily enable the lock recordings by sliding up their finger. The chat platform will then update the user interface again offering the possibility to navigate in the chat window holding the microphone button. Well, this exceptional feature has a bunch of limitations, including:
While recording a locked voice message, users cannot view photos or videos
While recording users can’t type a new message. In order to type the messages, users need to end the lock recording first
When a recording is in progress, users can’t chat with another person
Besides, the lock feature, WhatsApp has recently enrolled “delete for everyone” feature for Android users. As per the update, the users can delete a message within a window of 68 minutes and 16 seconds. This innovative update is welcomed by the users who were previously complaining about the 7 minute window time frame. Even though the feature has been launched recently, it is winning the hearts of the users.
Besides the set of the features explained above WhatsApp is working on a set of more innovative features to roll out for the users. The Facebook-owned messaging platform is working on an exceptional feature that helps users prioritize notifications in order to see the alerts users truly want. The “Notification Channel” has ten categories that users can choose individually.
These channels include Failure Notifications, Group Notifications, Critical App Alerts, Message Notifications, Chat History Backup, Sending Media, Critical App Alerts, Media Playback, Uncategorised, Other Notifications, and Silent Notifications.
Each category has different options that give users the option to turn notifications off for any particular category or allow different levels of importance to the particular category. For example, urgent messages can make priority sound and can pop up on the screen as per the priority set.
