Snapchat Added Instagram Owned Feature

Instagram-Style Mention Tagging Available to Snapchat

snapchat update

Snapchat has turned the table around this time by borrowing a feature from photo-sharing application Instagram. The story has always remained the other way around and that is why it is worth news to share. The action is somewhat ironic too as Instagram had previously borrowed the story feature from Snapchat first. The new feature is anticipated to work much similarly on Instagram.

For taking the benefits, all that users need to do is to type a username in the text field on an image on the video caption in stories providing viewers an option to tap on the link to bring up a new menu that is directly linked to the user’s info from where other users will be able to add them directly as a friend. The option also allows other users to follow the one who has posted the story.

One thing that users may not like with this new rollout is that there is no autofill feature that will pop-out when you will type “@” sign. So, it is important for you to remember the username of the particular person you wish to tag in your story.

And, the mentioned person will not get any notification of the same ( if the users are not on beta ), which means they will not know if they have been tagged in any such stories until other users who are also tagged in the story send them a notification.

However, the rollout is in the testing phase only and there is no official confirmation on when it will be rolled out for the users to use. In case, the testing gets successful, the users will have a bunch of features to use with the “@-tag” in their stories.

This tag will show the tagged person’s name, handle, bitmoji, and add a button to follow the users as we have mentioned earlier. The feature will make it easy for the users to promote the influencers they like the most by following them.

Here is a quick glance at how Snapchat’s @ mention works. After you will shoot photos with Snapchat camera, you can easily add texts to it. Well, there is no drop-down menu as it is there with other social media networks, so the users need to opt for “@any username” to mention any specific friend’s name. Any users viewing your Snap will see a “more” option to swipe up. This will reveal a menu showing people’s profile information.
