Your Skype chats will be acknowledged now.
Skype is getting a whole lot of attention these days not for being so generous to connect the world in one thread but to add features that are worth considering. And when it is Microsoft behind a product, you can only except the best. Microsoft is on a journey to improve Skype with elements to please the users. So, here is the delight for them.
In case, you are a licensed Skype user, the platform has something to offer to you. Besides transforming some of the features, the platform has added a whole new set of elements including, bright colors, GIFs, emojis, encrypted conversations and more. The modern-ish feature that we are talking about is “read receipts”.
Read receipts are nothing new, but when it comes to the Skype it certainly is. And for Microsoft, it seems a big deal. The new feature will be rolled out for Skype across all platform with the preview built 8.26.76. By installing the new built, users will acknowledge when their messages will be seen by the recipient. The feature works for the one-on-one chat and for the groups having 20 members. For being able to receive the read receipts feature both the users must use the latest build.
The feature has been rolled out for Skype preview app on platforms including Android, iOS, as well as for the modern desktop clients for Windows, Linux, and macOS. Unfortunately, the new rollout is not available for the new Skype app for Windows 10 which Insiders received with build 17704. The company may roll out the offering shortly for this built too.
It is possible for Skype users to either enable or disable the feature. In case, you are not comfortable with the same, opt for these steps, Settings > Privacy > Read Receipts. You can either set the status as ‘invisible’ to disable this feature. In other words, you can no longer avoid replying to the sometimes annoying Skype messages.
