Santander Group has announced the acquisition of Albert, the invoicing and expenses app for freelancers and micro-businesses. Without disclosing the actual amount, the banking group said that the purchase will support UK’s small business owners in growing their businesses.
Albert, which is also the UK’s highest-rated finance app with over 3200 five-star reviews on App Store, helps freelancers and self-employed to keep control of their finances by automating and simplifying invoices.
This invoice app has been featured by Apple in three respective categories; “New Apps We Love” “Work Anywhere” and “Its Tax Filing Time.” By dramatically improving bookkeeping tasks, it aims to take the stress away from business financial management.
Ivo Weevers, co-founder and CEO of Albert, said,

This deal will bring together the financial service capabilities of Santander Group and with the best in class invoicing and expenses customer experience of the Albert app.
Lindsay Arglas, Santander Group’s Chief Digital, and Innovation Officer said that Albert has a clear vision of how they use technology to transform the experience of operating a business. Their vision is to provide access to the tools that help people work smarter while delivering the same seamless and personal experiences in finance, as they get in their daily lives.
He further stated that the acquisition will assist them to ensure the prosperity for smaller businesses in the UK.
