Sam Altman has recently sat in front of multiple Federal Agency officials to answer critical risk assessment questions regarding OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
After 3 years of stringent, risky and highly technical beta testing, OpenAI’s Ceo finally launches the WorldCoin Crypto Project “The World’s first and biggest digital identity and financial public network”.
The company also launched WorldCoin token, a cryptocurrency transactable only in certain locations for now. The cryptocurrency is only available to users who participated in the 3-year-long beta testing phase.
Worldcoin provides users with a virtual identity that helps them separate themselves from the profoundly growing presence of AI generated online identities. The digital ID also known as ‘WorldID’.
Even if it sounds too sci-fi, the process of human verification will be done by an orb that will scan your eye’s unique iris pattern. The company will be rolling out 1500 orbs to initiate the verification process.
If successful, we believe Worldcoin could drastically increase economic opportunity, scale a reliable solution for distinguishing humans from AI online while preserving privacy, enable global democratic processes, and eventually show a potential path to AI-funded (universal basic income)
Altman and Blania, the co-founders of Worldcoin
During the beta testing process, nearly 2 million people became a part of this project, and now have an active WorldID that they can use for real-world transactions in certain restricted locations.
The company CEO, regarding the ambition of this highly questionable project, tweeted ,"Like any really ambitious project, maybe it works out and maybe it doesn't, but trying stuff like this is how progress happens,"
This project launch comes right after Sam Altman was put in front of multiple Federal agents for questioning of the safety and risk factors of developing AI without regulations. He himself showed favor towards regulating the development, usage and public access of Artificial Intelligence platforms.
He also agreed that AI possesses the potential to both save and destroy the world. It is us who have to choose what we want for our future, that AI can surely aid us in. With the launch of this project through an almost unbreakable blockchain technology, the risk of false identities will drop down to negligible, but the adoption of the project will define its true success.
