Google Maps is Introduced With New Features to Make Commute Easy

Google has rolled out some new and useful features, such as speed limit and speed cameras alerts

Google Maps New Features

Google Maps, the unanimous route-searching app, is going to see an addition of new features to offer easier and safer commute opportunities to its users. TechCrunch reports that new features, including speed limit, speed camera, and speed trap alerts will soon be added. However, only 40 countries, as of now, will be blessed with this update. The speed limit feature appears at the bottom of the app, whereas the speed trap appears as an icon on the map routes.

In the new add-on features, users will be notified about speed cameras and mobile speed cameras on the roads they are navigating. These changes were first noted by ZDNet and Reddit, thanks to their huge active community.

Even after the acquisition of Waze navigation app in 2013, Google failed to integrate its best features into its own app. However, last year, a few people spotted crash, incidents, and speed trap reports appearing on google maps. But these features were only available to some Android users.

However, recently Google began to roll out the new features for both iOS and Android users, where only Android users have the ability to report and provide feedback on speed cameras, but the information will be available on both platforms.

The fact that Google did not deem it necessary to officially announce this expansion of features has created some confusion related to the wheres and whens of it. Moreover, different people were seeing these changes at different stages in different countries, thus making the situation even more complex.

Google Maps uses a combination of authoritative feeds along with the feedback from the users to locate speed cameras.

Some of the countries who will get to see these add-ons include Australia, Brazil, U.S.A., Canada, U.K., India, Mexico, and Russia. These features sure should make commuting with Google Maps more hassle-free and way safer.
