Microsoft is redesigning the volume mixer in Windows 11, testing a new feature that will make it easier to manage multiple audio devices.
The company is redesigning the Quick Settings volume mixer, which will allow users to switch between audio devices and adjust volume output on a per-app basis. This is a much-needed improvement, as the current design does not allow for such customization.
Microsoft is also adding a dedicated keyboard shortcut to make accessing the feature faster. With this change, users can now tailor their audio experience with more control and fewer clicks to better manage their favorite apps.
The new volume mixer is reminiscent of the popular EarTrumpet mod, which many Windows users have been using to manage their audio devices. While there is no word yet on when Microsoft plans to roll out the latest Windows Insider features to regular users, we are hoping this one won't take long to make its way to the general public.
We are excited about this new feature and can't wait to give it a try. Stay tuned for more updates on this!
