Elon Musk, the CEO of X, has been reportedly working on a platform that rivals YouTube. The company may soon launch an X streaming app on Smart TVs.
Since Elon Musk took Twitter over, the social media platform has undergone drastic changes. The platform was renamed to X, word lengths were altered, editing became a new introduction, and much more happened. In recent news, Elon Musk is reportedly working on something completely out of the blue for its audience. According to internal sources, Musk is developing a long-form video streaming platform that will soon rival YouTube on the big screens.
The app is being developed for Smart TVs and may be launched in the coming weeks. Elon Musk has been looking for a way to enter the single-brand-dominated video streaming market for quite some time now. The app will be available for Samsung and Android Smart TVs first. After the initial rolling-out phase, the app will be released in other formats and on different devices.
Like Google Search, a dominating force in the Search Engine sector, YouTube has successfully retained its leadership position in the online video streaming industry. X has always remained a microblogging platform with additional features for uploading short-form video content. With Musk’s latest introduction, X may soon enter long-form video content that directly competes with YouTube.
A general user mentioned on an X post that they needed a Twitter version for TV as the mobile app version was not feasible for long-form video content. Elong Musk responded to this post, saying, ‘It’s Coming.’ Considering the high truthfulness of Elon Musk’s previous venture ideas and vague claims, X might some to the TV screens soon.
No X representative has given an official statement to the media. The source that revealed the video platform developments remained a secret, making the news highly unclaimable. The only way to discover the truth is to wait for an X icon on your Smart TV soon. Elon Musk has future ambitions of competing in the live streaming space ruled by Twitch, the messaging space dominated by Signal, and the explicit social media space ruled by Reddit.
X has also undergone some algorithm-level changes, which can help creators increase their reach. From now onwards, users’ pinned posts will be more visible to all their followers. This rule only applies to posts that fall under the 48-hour timeframe from posting.
