Cambridge University And Babbel App Come Together For English Test

Cambridge University join hands with the Babble to provide English Language certification

Cambridge University join hands with the Babble to provide English Language certification

The Germany based language-learning mobile app maker, Babbel teamed up with the Cambridge University’s English language certification stream. Babbel, which also holds the position of the highest grossing app maker in mobile language-learning sector started a campaign with the Cambridge University. Babbel and English language certification department of Cambridge University came up with the most digital language testing certification test in mobile app technology.

Babbel and Cambridge University jointly launched this language testing app which is named ‘Babbel English Test’. Both will split the revenue generated from the app, the app will certify an individual test taker in terms of English language reading and listening comprehension skill. The certification can be used by the test taker to upgrade his or her skill in the resume by attaching it on the LinkedIn profile.

The test taker will be tested in the English language on the basis of fluency, vocab, and grammar. The app will test the user from beginner level A1(beginner) to the B2 level(intermediate). The certification will add another level of achievement on the candidate's profile while applying for a job.

Cambridge University which is known for the hardest English language test maker is taking its first step towards going to mobile app technology. The university every year sets the test's standards for nearly 5 million students across 100 countries. The University wants to reach out to the certification seekers at a larger scale with the help of digital technology.

On this joint venture, the Cambridge English Chief Executive Saul Nassé said "Babbel captures the adult self-motivated learners, which is a big part of the learning landscape. We haven't found a way of reaching them before. So we will get to them with this,"

Babbel came into existence in 2007 and serving the users with more than 14 language mobile apps since then. The company offers multi-language mobile apps, but the half of the company's revenue is generated from the English language apps. Babbel claimed itself as the top revenue generating mobile app creator in the education sector around the globe. However, the privately owned company didn't disclose its figures due to the competitive reasons.

On the other hand, the Cambridge English generates more 200 million pounds revenue every year. The department also works with the British Council to provide several personal exams to many countries including, China, India, and Latin America along with the publishing partner Cambridge University Press for the testing materials.

According to the latest updates from the Babbel, it will offer an English language learning course of three months, which will include regular testing priced at 59 euros to the subscribers. In October the company will start offering English Language Test for 39 euros.

According to a survey from SimilarWeb, a web and mobile audience research firm the babbel.com along with its several apps successfully attained 4 million of unique visitors in the month of July. The rival Duolingo which also provides free language-learning courses online have almost 12 million users monthly. The mobile apps like Memrise and Busuu are the strong competitor for the Babbel in the language- learning field.
