Facebook is all set to enter into the online dating industry with a new app that the company is testing right now. The social media giant is currently testing its new dating app among its employees according to the screenshots surfaces to Twitter. One of the Twitter users shared the screenshots of the app showing its interface.

Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg announced earlier this year that Facebook would be introducing a dating app for the users. The app is almost ready, and it is being tested by the Facebook employees themselves. The shared screenshots shows that the user gets the opportunity to choose from five gender options including, woman, trans woman, man, trans man and non-binary people.
Facebook dating app also hides the user’s profile from their Facebook friends and finds the matches only from the people sharing mutual friends with. This will avoid any chance of getting a match from any of our friends or family members, so there will be no awkward situation. The app will also hide your profile from your Facebook friends, and only the public information will be visible on the dating profile. However, apps like Bumble that uses the Facebook account as a sign-up option also avoids finding matches from the Facebook connections.
According to the reports, Facebook employees were given the access to the app last week and asked to use it. The employees were required to open the app and provide their dummy information in order to use the app. The company is testing the app with the prior to the launch, which is also called ‘dogfooding.’ However, the Facebook employees were strictly instructed not date their co-workers. The activity is performed to analyze the app as a user and spot any glitch or uncomfortable user interface in the dating app.
With the upcoming dating app, Facebook will be targeting the £11 billion online dating market. In order to make an influence in the industry, the company needs to compete with the giants like Tinder and Bumble. On the better side, the social media platform could leverage its existing users to make the dating app a hit. There is no information regarding the release date of the app for the end users. However, we believe that Facebook will introduce its dating app by the end of the year.
