Xiaomi has officially announced the launch date of Redmi S2 smartphone that will be coming to China first. The smartphone release date has been scheduled for 10th May by the company in its recently shared posters. Xiaomi has shared few posters revealing the Redmi S2 and some of its features. In the shared posters Turbo Liu, the popular Chinese actor is holding the upcoming smartphone in his hand.

The company has launched a couple of posters more in which Xiaomi Redmi S2 seems to have the pink color. According to the posters, the phone design sports a full metal body with minimum bezel having antenna lines at the bottom and top. There is a dual rear camera which is vertically oriented similar to iPhone X, a LED light is also positioned between the camera sensors. The front-facing camera that is expected to be a selfie booster for the users. The posters also revealed that the Xiaomi Redmi S2 will be equipped with an AI portrait mode and AI beauty feature. The volume keys are located at the right side along with the power button and the fingerprint center is positioned at the back.

Redmi S2 has already been listed on the website of Xiaomi’s official retailing partner which reveals the specification and other details of the smartphone. According to the mentioned details, the Xiaomi Redmi S2 will comprise a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display with a full HD+ support having the 1440 X 720p resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The processing unit will be composed of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 635 chipset powered by a 2.0GHz Octa-core processor coupled with a 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. Xiaomi Redmi S2 will be coming with a dual camera sensors having 20MP primary lens and 5MP as the secondary lens. In addition, there is a 20MP front camera powered by the AI beauty feature for perfect selfies. On the software side, Xiaomi Redmi S2 will be running on Android Oreo 8.1, which is supported by the company’s MIUI 9.0. In addition, there will be a 3080 mAh battery with a long lasting power backup for the phone. 

Ahead of the Xiaomi Redmi S2 launch, the company has partnered with Suning Tesco, a Chinese retailer. After 10th May the smartphone will be exclusively available on Suning Tesco for the consumers to buy.

The Redmi S2 is expected to be cheaper than Xiaomi’s other smartphones like Redmi Note 5( Snapdragon 636) considering the processor difference. According to leaks and available rumors, we believe that Xiaomi will launch Redmi S2 between $159 and $187. The reports also suggest that after the launch in China the smartphone will be released in India and Vietnam soon.
