Today, we have mobile apps at our service that can effortlessly take care of our various requirements, for example, there are online food delivery apps, on-demand taxi-booking apps, online dating apps and so much more.
And in the midst of all of these applications, there is another category of apps that allow users to selflessly volunteer for those who are in need.
The mobile app, Be My Eyes, does fall into this category of applications. This is a free application that enables its users to connect with those who are blind and visually-impaired.
Basically, in this app, people who are perfectly sighted act as the volunteers who 'lend their eyes' to others in order to help with simple and short tasks.
Be My Eyes app has been created by Google and which even launched a dedicated Disability Support team for the application last year. The Disability Support team was released so that the users can get in touch with the representatives through emails about their doubts and questions related to the app and its features.
As stated by the company's officials,
“Google’s Disability Support team is composed of strong advocates for inclusion who are eager to work with Googlers to continuously improve and shape Google’s products with user feedback.”
The support channel is now available through live phone support as well as with the Be My Eyes mobile application for both iOS and Android platforms. Apart from the disability support team, another popular request from the targeted user base was the option to support video through the mobile app of Be My Eyes.
In another statement, Google described the app as,
"Be My Eyes is a free app available for both iOS and Android that connects people who are blind and low-vision to nearly two million sighted volunteers in the Be My Eyes community. Through a live connection, a volunteer can assist someone with a task that requires visual assistance, such as checking expiry dates, distinguishing colors, reading instructions or navigating new surroundings."
Recently, our team also covered the Microsoft Seeing AI app for the blind that now helps its users explore pics with the help of touch. Also, to stay updated with more such updates, make sure you are following MobileAppDaily by clicking on the ‘Subscribe’ button.
