Ex-Apple employees’ startup, Humane, secures $100M in Series C funding to develop an innovative device and cloud services platform for AI

Humane, a startup founded by ex-Apple employees, has raised $100 million in a Series C funding round to build an "integrated device and cloud services platform" for artificial intelligence (AI).

The startup's workforce has grown to 200 employees, and its founders, Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno, both of whom have experience with iPhone development, are promising a reveal this spring. The company's patent portfolio and hiring suggest it is developing a "body-worn device" that uses a "laser projection system" for projected augmented reality glasses that identify real-world objects and apply digital imagery to them.

Humane's investors include SK Networks, LG Technology Ventures, and Volvo Cars Tech Fund, all of which have formed strategic partnerships with the startup. Humane is also collaborating with OpenAI, Microsoft, and LG, and has been developing its tech for smart home devices and potential automotive industry offerings.

Humane has raised $230 million to date from notable investors including Microsoft, Qualcomm Ventures, and OpenAI CEO and co-founder Sam Altman.H
