Xiaomi has finally unveiled it long-awaited Mi 6X smartphone in China yesterday under three different variants. Xiaomi focuses only on the Asian markets where China and India are its priorities. Over the periods of last 2 years the company has swiped the Asian market with its pocket-friendly powerful smartphones. Last year Xiaomi launched Mi 5X in China and the same phone as Mi A1 in India, which has become a great success for the company. The under-budget phone was appreciated by the consumers and performed very well. Now the company has launched its successor in China, which means it is clear now what India will be getting with Mi A2 real soon. Xiomi Mi 6X was launched on Wednesday by Xiaomi and the phone will go on sale from Friday, 27 April. Xiaomi always takes its phone on the flash sale where the phones are available for a limited period of time.
A 20MP front camera is given for best selfies
Xiaomi Mi 6X has a sleek design which surely resembles its predecessor, however, the thin body makes it look sharper than Mi 5X. Along with this, the company has also changed the camera orientation by giving it iPhone X like vertical design. The body of the phone is 7.3mm thick which makes it slimmer than Mi A1 and the finishing is more delicate than other Xiaomi phones. The flashlight lies between the dual cameras and the fingerprint sensor mounted at the same place but looks more well shaped. The China-based phone makers have also gone bezel-less with Xiaomi Mi 6X as the frame seems to have the minimal bezel. This makes the screen looks more refined and bigger than the previous model.
As expected Xiaomi Mi 6X is a powerful smartphone compared to its price and offers smooth performance to the users. The handset comprises a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor to power up the phone. Along with this, the phone is available in three different models having three RAM variants including 4GB RAM with 32GB, 4GB RAM with 64GB and the top model offering 6GB RAM with 128GB internal storage configuration. The chipset is similar to the Nokia 7 Plus and works extremely well to carry out all the tasks without any trouble. Along with this, the phone offers dual camera and USB Type-C port which is not available on other phones at this price. Xiaomi Mi 6X offers all the basic sensors and connectivity tools including gyroscope, proximity sensor, and accelerometer.
Talking about the software the Mi 6X will be running on Android 8.0 out of the box, which is the latest Android version from Google. Xiaomi never ships its Redmi devices with the Android Oreo, which makes Mi 6X be only one to come with the latest OS. In addition, the phone will be using Xiaomi’s MIUI 9.0 which will be based on the stock Android. The Mi A2 will be similar to the Mi 6X that will be launched in India by making some changes to its predecessor Mi A1. The smartphone owns a 5.9-inch display with 18:9 aspect ration having an FHD+ display. There is a 3010 mAh battery to provide everlasting power to the phone with the quick charge support and there is no 3.5mm jack. On the interesting note, the phone also has a face unlock system along with an AI translator feature that can convert Chinese into English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Indian, and Korean languages.
Xiaomi claims the camera to be best till date at this range, the rear camera has a dual lens. The dual camera poses a primary camera of 12 MP with a f/1.75 aperture with Sony IMX486 and fixed focal length. The secondary camera offers a 20MP lens with 1.25-micron pixel size. On the other hand, the front camera is a selfie booster that offers a powerful 20MP camera with Sony IMX376 sensor with the same aperture. Xiaomi has integrated the camera with AI to capture more compelling snaps. According to the company, the AI is capable of performing scene recognition to enhance colors and capture natural-looking images.
For now, the phone has been released in China and the Mi 6X sale will start from 10 am Friday. So, the prices available is available only for the Chinese market, however, this may help us in getting a good idea about the Mi A2 price in India. For now, the Mi 6X base variant with 4GB/32GB costs CNY 1,599, the 4GB/64GB costs CNY 1,799 and the 6GB/128 costs CNY 1,999.
