The company has been providing a new update to its flagship headset series every year that eventually came out as a rebelling Android smartphone. The OnePlus 5T that was launched as an improvised version of its predecessor with 18:9 aspect ratio by eliminating the home button. However, 5T didn't receive much design enhancements as the company had some other plans for 2018. OnePlus 6 was launched by the company last month that quickly took the number one spot among top 2018 smartphones. From design to hardware support everything has been flawlessly crafted by OnePlus. OnePlus 6 is genuinely more than a sum of its parts that comes with ample of power under the hood.
The device comes with all the latest hardware support that a user could expect without any flaw. The OnePlus 6 has enlightened the hope that powerful Android smartphones could come at reasonable price.
Full back/front glass design
Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection
Change in fingerprint sensor
Alert slider and power button location changed
Unlike its predecessors, OnePlus 6 comes with full front and back glass design instead of a metal unibody. This adds the more shiny look to the phone, and it comes with the gorilla glass 5 protection. The glass is the latest and most robust that company could provide which means you don't have to worry about it dropping sometimes. In case you are still worried about the phone getting the scratches or any harm, the company offers an additional cover with OnePlus 6. In addition to this, OnePlus has improved the water resistance capability in OnePlus 6.
The company claims that it has made the phone prone to everyday risk like caught in the rain and dropping into the water with fully submerged, you need to pull it out, and it will be fine. The upgraded OnePlus smartphone weighs 177g which a bit heavier compared to 5T that weighs 163g. The smartphone’s dimensions are at 155.7 x 75.4 x 7.75mm that shows the outer shell of OnePlus 6 is similar to 5T. However, considering the increased size of the display proves that the work done by OnePlus is impressive.
The design tweak includes the shifting of power/lock key from left side to the right side of OnePlus 6 alongside the alert slider that enables the user to switch between silent, vibrate, and loud mode. The left side of the phone has taken by the SIM tray after the majority of the users have complained about its position in 5T. At the rear of OnePlus 6, you will find fingerprint sensor positioned just below the dual camera. The size of the fingerprint sensor has been reduced by OnePlus and turned into an oval shape instead of a circle. Moreover, the fingerprint sensor is capable of unlocking the OnePlus 6 in just .02 seconds. Besides, there is a Face unlock option embedded by the company that just takes only 0.4 seconds to unlock the phone, which is truly impressive. There is good news for the OnePlus fans, the 3.5mm jack is still there on OnePlus 6.
6.28 inch AMOLED display
1080 X 2280 pixel resolution
Snapdragon 845 processor
8GB RAM and 128/256 GB of internal storage
OnePlus 6 came with the expected Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845 processor which is the most powerful available. The chipset of the smartphone is accompanied by Octa-core (4x2.8 GHz Kryo 385 Gold & 4x1.7 GHz Kryo 385 Silver) processor and Adreno 630 GPU. The combination of the processing unit and the latest chip supplies immense power to the phone. Besides, OnePlus 6 comes in two different variants depending on the RAM and internal storage. The cheaper variant comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage, while the other one comprises 8GB RAM and 128/256 GB of internal storage.
You will find Android 8.1 right out of the box with OnePlus 6 which is overlaid by company's own Oxygen OS. OnePlus 6’s speed is lightning fast without any lag or interruption. The heavy apps or games were running smooth on OnePlus 6, and there was no issue while switching between the apps. The OnePlus smartphone is better than its predecessor in all performance aspects. The smartphone sport a 6.28-inch Optic AMOLED capacitive touchscreen that is bright and looks fantastic. The display comes with 1080 X 2280 pixel resolution for FHD experience. Along with this, OnePlus 6 has 83.8% screen to body ratio and 19:9 aspect ratio.
The OnePlus 6 camera has also improved with the new smartphone, though, the 5T camera was among the best that we have received in 2017. OnePlus 6 comes with a dual rear camera having a 16 MP and a 20 MP lens. Both the lens have f/1.7 aperture and captures the excellent quality images. The camera possess essential features like Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama, and phase detection autofocus. The secondary lens of the camera adds the bokeh effect and recently launched new Oxygen OS version also activates the same effect in front camera. Talking about the front camera, it has a powerful 16MP lens for stunning selfies. In addition to all this, the OnePlus 6 runs on a powerful 3300 mAh non-removable battery that also supports fast charging ( Dash Charging).
OnePlus 6 was launched on May 22 by the company after a long time of teasing and rumors. The 6GB with 64GB internal storage variant costs $529 (£469, Rs 34,999) while the 8GB RAM with 128GB storage comes at $579 (£519, Rs 39,999). The variant having the 256GB of internal storage is the most expensive OnePlus phone ever that costs $629 (£569 Rs 42,500).
The latest OnePlus Android phone is an example of true power with astonishing design and looks that comes with the affordable price. OnePlus 6 comprises the high-end hardware support with a big screen that is composed of AMOLED technology offering a pleasing experience. If you place the OnePlus 6 with high-end devices like iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy S9 you won't find it out of place. The Oneplus smartphone is almost $300 cheaper than the similar headset offer by tech giants like HTC, LG, and Samsung. From our side, OnePlus 6 receives a big thumbs up, and it is best mid-range smartphone of 208 to date.
