This video doorbell from Nest is probably the smartest of all the available options. It includes much more than a video-enabled doorbell could probably have. In case, you are looking for a doorbell that provides all the related information of a visitor, consider the Nest Hello. The device has a great video quality, it is a solid application, and operates flawlessly every time someone visits your home. There is an additional integration with Google Home and Google Assistant and a 5-day subscription plan launched recently.

The subscription plan is for storing video in the cloud that reduces the ongoing running cost of a Nest system. It is a worthy competitor to the market leader Ring Video Doorbell 2, but it requires additional wiring.

Hello, There!

Smartest Welcoming Addition To The Nest Family

Details On Specifications

Nest Hello is sophisticated, slimmer with a sleek video doorbell having a white body. The front is black with a rectangular design and rounded edge on the top and the bottom. In comparison to the ring doorbell, Next has added a smart device to its already enriched list of doorbells. The camera lens featured at the top captures the visitors and the facial recognition records the imprints of every visitor. At the bottom sits a LED ring and the Nest logo is there for hiding the sensors positioned in the middle of the device. The additional microphone is positioned above the logo along with a button on the device edge.

Other settings allow users to configure chime duration, the video quality, sharing the camera with friends and families, adding the Wifi settings and the microphone audio recordings on and off. The device can be set for quick responses in French, English or Spanish. Videos from Nest Hello can be integrated and streamed to a screen connected to Amazon Alexa or Google Chromecast. The device can also interact with other Nest products.

Being a wired doorbell, Nest Hello installation requires setting up with home’s electric wiring. The wiring is not much of a hassle as you can always have the assistance of a professional for setting up the wiring. Nest Pro offers additional assistance by letting you connect to a qualified Nest professional from the app. Moreover, there is a quick-start guide, mounting screws, a drill bit, two mounting plates, a pair of quick-connect wire connectors and the chime connector. In order to get started, you need to download the application even if you are having one.

The Verdict

In case, you have already invested in other Nest appliances, Nest Hello is a smart choice to own. The device able to identify the people with face recognition technique is icing on the cake. Meanwhile, Amazon echo and Google Home devices can be connected, which offers additional marks to the device. The cool features including smart alerts, pre-recorded responses, time-lapse video, and sightline activity tracking are there to offer the device a “Pro” status. The free cloud storage space is worth mentioning that makes data storage a breeze.
