Facebook Brings Back Messenger to Mobile App after Nine Years

Facebook Brings Back Messenger to Mobile App after Nine Years

Date: March 09, 2023

Meta, formerly known as Facebook, is bringing back Messenger to the Facebook mobile app after almost nine years.

Meta, the company behind Facebook, has announced that it is bringing Messenger back to the Facebook mobile app after almost nine years apart.

In a blog post, Facebook head Tom Alison explained that Meta is testing the ability for people to access their Messenger inbox within the Facebook app, with plans to expand testing soon. The move is part of Meta's effort to make Facebook the best place for social discovery and sharing, and to compete with the popular video-sharing app, TikTok.

By integrating Messenger into the Facebook app, Meta aims to make it easier for people to share what they discover on Facebook via messaging, without the need to switch to another app. While some may argue that this is a reversal of an earlier decision to focus on making Messenger the best mobile messaging experience, having one less app to juggle on your phone is not a bad thing.

It remains to be seen whether Meta plans to bring messaging back to the mobile browser version of Facebook.
