About Event

Apple is all set to introduce a new wave of excitement among the tech enthusiasts this year with its annual developer conference. The tech giant will be hosting the this year’s WWDC 2018 event at the same venue to last year that is San Jose, California. The developer conference will kick off from 4th June and will last for four days till 8th June. If you are among the tech geeks who are waiting for one of biggest tech event that occurs every year then here it is all you need to know.

What is WWDC?

Apple held the event it named Worldwide Developer Conference every year, in which it invited the developers across the globe. During the four days of the event, the company set up the stage for announcing the upcoming company’s product, software updates, and technology breakthrough to amaze the world. The conference includes a number of technical sessions and discussion for the developers to explore new enhancements from the company. On the very first day of the event, Apple hosts a keynote session in which it announces all the highlights of the conference and sets the stage for rest of the days.

What’s So Special About WWDC 2018?

Every year Apple uses the WWDC platform to share new hardware and software technology with developers across the globe. The tech giant also provides the developers early access to its upcoming software so they can prepare their apps and products for the upcoming update. This year we expect Apple to introduce upgrades to the iOS, watches, tvOS, and MacOS. The rumors and leaks about iOS 12 and MacOS 10.14 has already been going around for a long time now. Maybe Apple unveils the Universal apps at WWDC 2018, the apps that can work across both MacOS and iOS, however, there is no confirmation over the release. Along with this, watch OS5, some updates to Homepod and maybe low-cost MacBook Air models could come out during the conference.

WWDC 2018 Tickets And Registration

The registration for the WWDC is open since Tuesday, 13 March. The attendees for the WWDC will be selected by a lottery system from Apple among all the registered developers. The registration window will be available until March 22, 10.a.m. (Pacific time) for the interested developers. The lottery results will be declared on March 23, 5 p.m. (Pacific time) and only selected developers will be able to purchase the ticket. This year’s developer conference ticket costs $1,599 and the ticket lottery winners will be notified by Apple. In order to register yourself for the WWDC developer conference, you must be a member of Apple Developer Program.

In addition, Apple is also giving 350 WWDC scholarships to the students that can be availed by those membered with STEM organizations. In the scholarship package, the company is providing free WWDC tickets, free lodging service along with one-year free membership to Apple Developer program. The submissions for the scholarship will start from 26th March 2018 and the participants need to build a scene on Swift Playground that can be experienced within three minutes. Students aged 13 and older are eligible to apply for the WWDC scholarship.

What To Expect From Apple WWDC 2018?

Software

As we have already told you above the major software updates will be iOS 12 and MacOS 10.14. Apple will be revealing new OS versions for its iPhone, Mac and Apple Watch with some new interesting features. The iOS 12 is expected to come with major changes for the iPhone including some cool features. The leaks suggest that the new iPhone OS version will have Animjoi support for FaceTime that will enable the iPhone X users to use Animjois while video chatting. Along with this iOS 12 will bring, deeper Siri integration, redesigned Stock apps, more AR features, improved parental controls and much more.

The more interesting update that could surface in the WWDC 2018 is the cross-platform capability of apps. The Universal apps that could work across different OS of the Apple ecosystem could be released this year. This will help the users to build one app that can run on iPads, iPhone, and Mac.

Hardware

Although WWDC is a software event that introduces upgrades and new tools for the developers Apple also leverages it to show off some of its new hardware enhancements. This year the rumors suggest that the Cupertino based company may introduce the new iPad Pro with Face ID and a bigger screen. Some of the resources also point that the company may reveal a new iPhone SE model at the event, however, we don't believe much that for now.

In addition, we also believe that Apple may also introduce a new MacBook Pro during the conference.
