The last update of Windows 10 was codenamed as “Redstone 4”
Presently, Windows 10 new update codenamed as “Redstone” is the most prominent project that Microsoft is working on. This year in April, Microsoft came out with its first release of Windows 10 update, which was previously known as Redstone 4. So, we can expect from the new update that it will enhance the overall user experience of the Windows 10 users.
The new update is expected to bring a lot of new features to the table, and that may also include News app, refinement in Windows Mixed Reality, and better phone integration options for the users.
However, the update is still in the developmental phase, so, I really can’t help you with the exact features, but I can surely speculate with the reports that have come my way. But before jumping to the rundown of the features, know about the release date of the Windows 10 Redstone 5 update.
Looking at the last update by Microsoft for the Windows 10, it was released in April. If we go by the pattern in which Microsoft releases its updates, then we can say that the update will be rolled out somewhere in September or October. And the next update will follow in March or April.
Following are the features that are most expectedly hit the windows user with the launch of the new update.
The concept of the Fluent Design user interface came with the April 2018 Update, and later in the I/O Build 2018 event, Microsoft hinted at some more effects and features that shall come embedded in the new update. It means you may get to see more apps and some stunning 3D effects for Mixed Reality experiences.
Game Mode and Game Bar are always a priority for gamers who have Windows 10 as their best bet. So, keeping a note of it, Microsoft has said that the development team will be infusing more option to optimize overall gaming performance.
Also, the new update for Windows 10 will let the users visualize system utilization tools like think GPU, CPU and RAM usage, and frame rate, that too without running a third-party program like MSI Afterburner. Elements like these will undoubtedly help the gamer community to make the most out of it.
After the arrival of the smartphones, the need for multitasking has increased many folds, and we expect the same in Windows 10. The Sets is the feature that will bring multitasking in Windows 10 more than ever. The idea is derived from the web browser and will be used to bring the tabs to the entire interface. It will help the user to access the tabs that contain web pages, apps, folders, and almost everything.
To add the initial punch to the feature, Microsoft highlighted the Sets in the I/O Build event. The presentation about the Redstone 5 exhibited the new ways in which the docs can be opened and web links opened in the next tab of the document. Other than this, the user will be notified when he will be working on various tabs. It will help the user to manage multiple documents, apps, and websites.
Surprisingly, Microsoft has pulled down the Sets feature from the preview version, but as a user, we will love to see it in the Windows 10 new update.
According to Microsoft’s Dona Sarkar in a blog post announcing the 17704 preview build, “we’re taking Sets offline to continue making it great. Based on your feedback, some of the things we’re focusing on include improvements to the visual design and continuing to integrate Office and Microsoft Edge into Sets better to enhance workflow”.
Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) or the web apps are native apps that work as a regular app. These apps apprise the user with notifications and can work offline also. To give a clear picture of the Progressive Web App, Microsoft even displayed in the I/O build how these apps will integrate with Windows 10 in the update.
The tweaks brought in by the Microsoft will help the Progressive Web Apps to look and behave more like to the specifications laid down by the Windows 10. The users will also get the ease of downloading the apps directly from its Edge web browser.
To make the Windows 10 more compatible with the smartphone, the new update will make the operating system so flexible that the user will be able to interact with the smartphone through Windows 10.
Much like what Siri and Google Assistant are capable of, the new Windows 10 device will also enable the user to read and reply to text messages. Also, you will be able to share files between your PC and your phone quickly.
The new update will also refine the News App that brings you the breaking news from the world’s best sources. As per the Microsoft, every piece of information is curated by editors and customized for according to the users’ need. The update will add more polished news that can be accessed from a single spot.
The revamped News App from the Microsoft will be taking head on the likes of Apple News or Google News, which are extensively used by the people across the world.
As a user, you might have faced some difficulties in copying and pasting the content on your Windows 10 PC, but now it’s going to get a lot easier. After the update gets released, the users will be able to copy and paste on different devices. It will be possible through the new cloud-powered clipboard.
One can be able to do it by hitting the Windows Key + C. The feature will be available on all the Windows 10 devices and later, the company may make it available on Android and iOs devices as well.
These were the features that are likely to accompany the update of Redstone 5 release. You may see many of these features in the final cut, but Microsoft may tweak some features with the final release.
