Get ready to feel the new touch of iOS 12.
Now is the September and it’s time for the release of the latest version of iOS. Yes, I am talking about the much-anticipated iOS 12 version for all the iOS compatible device. The Cupertino based company announced about the iOS in the annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
The event gave a lot of insights into the new version of the iOS promised to refine one of the best operating systems. Craig Federighi, SVP, Software Engineering, Apple, said in a keynote in WWDC 2018, “Our next big release of iOS is, you guessed it, iOS 12. Now our customers, of course, are going to receive iOS 12 as a free software update.”
So, let’s know how iOS 12 is going to transform the whole identity of iPhone and what all changes it will bring in the Apple’s most eminent smartphone.
Whether you’re using your iPhone or iPad, iOS, they all will be enhanced for a faster and more responsive experience all around. Tasks like launching Camera and typing with the keyboard will happen faster than ever. These enhancements will improve performance on all supported devices, covering all the devices from iPhone 5s and iPad Air onwards.
iOS 12 is set to bring ARKit 2 into the fray which will take the Augmented Reality to an altogether next level. From face detection to 3D object detection, everything will be changed. ARKit 2 will create more immersive augmented reality experiences that multiple people can experience simultaneously.
The AR objects will be sent with Messages and Mail, then viewed in the real world. And a new AR app in iOS called Measure will help you measure real-world objects just by pointing your camera at them. Now, that’s amazing.
Yes, this feature will be for you only. The Apple's Photos app will display photos you have taken that same day in past years. The feature is similar to what Snapchat rolled out recently. Moreover, the Photo app will also suggest you Apple-made effects that you can try on your pictures.
There are also new search suggestions for people, places, and even categories of photos like watersports, and iOS 12 can even detect which friends are in your photos and offer to send those photos to them.
iOS 12 will be bringing a new feature called "Siri Shortcuts." Siri can now intelligently pair your daily routines with third-party apps to suggest convenient shortcuts exactly when you need them. So if you typically pick up a newspaper on the way to work, Siri will learn your routine and suggest when to buy it from the Lock screen.
Going forward, you can also run shortcuts with your voice or create your own with the new Shortcuts app.
Sometimes, searching a photo can turn to be real trouble. But not with iOS 12. The new OS version brings you “Search suggestions” as a new way to help you find the exact photo you’re looking for, or rediscover a great one you forgot about. Even before you start typing, you’ll see suggestions for recent events, people and places. And as you type, the results are smarter and more powerful, and you can refine them by adding multiple keywords.
Constant ring and pings of your smartphone can lead to a headache and especially when you are at home or a meeting. The worst part is, you have to turn your device on Airplane mode or on silent to escape the constant buzz. Not anymore with iOS 12. The new Do Not Disturb feature will help you to manage your notifications in more ways than ever.
Just for a meeting or while you’re at a location, the Do Not Disturb will automatically turn on, putting all the notifications and call on silent and then, as soon as your event ends or you leave that place, the feature will be disabled. That’s technology.
The Smartphone is a boon for our generation, but at the same time, its addictiveness has started taking a toll on the users of all age groups. The smartphone’s persistent use has to lead to many diseases which were earlier not known, and the situation is only going to get worse if timely action is not taken.
Apple has rightly realized the gravity of the situation and hence added the “Screen Time” feature in the iOS 12. It will help you to understand better the time you and your kids spend using apps, visiting websites and on your devices overall. So you can make the most of how you choose to spend time on your iPhone or iPad.
Facetime is another hit that has been highlighted with the forthcoming arrival of iOS 12. The video and audio feature of the iOS will support 32 people at once and to manage so many people at once, the tile of the person speaking will come up automatically. The user can even start Group FaceTime directly from a group thread in Messages or join an active one at any time.
Sadly, the rollout of the upgraded FaceTime feature will not match with that of iOS 12 release. Due to some undisclosed reasons, Apple has shifted its launch a little further.
All the new features mentioned above are currently in the beta programs. I expect to see all these features to be the part of iOS 12 launch, but a couple of finishing touch would definitely be there.
So, buckle up your seatbelts and expect something remarkable from the American multinational technology giant.
