Instagram is an ideal platform to share all your buzz activities and the cool pictures that you definitely click on any given day. The video-sharing social networking company has ticked all the right boxes in terms of offering the best deal of its feature-rich platform.
But there was one thing that the Instagram users’ were missing all through these years, and that is the affluence of a “Verified Account.” Though the perk of a verified profile was limited to only a few users. Much like Twitter, a verified account on almost every platform helps you to stand out from the usual lot.
In a new announcement, Instagram has extended this service to all of its users, who can provide the company with their valid documents.
“The blue verified badge is an important way for you to know that the account you are interacting with is the authentic presence of a notable public figure, celebrity, global brand or entity,” Mike Krieger, Co-Founder & CTO, stated in one of its blog posts. “Today we are enabling a new way for accounts that reach large audiences and meet our criteria to request verification through a form within the Instagram app.”
It has left open the gates for all the Instagram users’ who always craved for a verified since long. Here is your chance to add more colors to your Instagram account. Go, get it.
Instagram new verification system will require your account username, your full name, and a copy of your legal or business identification. In the documentation submission section, you can add Driver’s license, Voter Card, national ID cards or something of similar credibility. As per the company claims, the information provided by the user will not be shared publicly.
Also remember, don’t expect a verified account by just submitting a request for a verified account. After receiving your request, the Instagram team will verify all your information and based upon that, the further action of giving you the verified status will matter. Instagram will notify you of their result by sending you a notification.
“To be verified, an account must comply with Instagram’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. We will review verification requests to confirm the authenticity, uniqueness, completeness, and notability of each account.”
In case your request for a verified badge is turned down by Instagram, you can try your luck after 30 days.
Another factor that you need to know before applying for a verified profile is being in the list of “notable persons.” Yes, you heard it right. Instagram wants you to be a popular person or a highly searched celebrity for granting you the special status on their platform. And if you lack this particular, you better reconsider the decision of getting the blue tick against your profile name.
According to the Instagram, the company reviews user accounts “featured in multiple news sources,” and the one with paid content doesn’t come under their list.
