Besides, there are also rumors that Huawei is working on its Honor Mate X for providing the foldable screen.
Now, Sony is the latest addition to the list as the company is working on foldable smartphones. A new concept phone from Sony has surfaced, which is shared by Techconfigurations. However, the design of the phone seems to be a bit different from the standard foldable approach. The phone which rumored to be named as Sony Xperia Flex looks like a mini Playstation in folded position.
The rumors and leaks in the smartphone industry never stops, and we always have something interesting to talk about. This new rumored smartphone from Sony seemed to be the first Sony smartphone with the foldable screen. Sony Xperia Flex is a conceptual rumored phone on which the company is working secretly. The phone is expected to own a foldable screen technology that will allow the users to bend the screen without any problem.
The images of the phone reveals a Sony phone having a bezel-less display with a metallic design. However, the glass body can be seen on the backside of the phone. Sony Xperia Flex has the minimal bezel possible and it looks like we have more than 90% screen to body ratio here. At the top of the display, there is a very tiny front camera with the other sensors. At the back panel, you will see a dual rear camera where lenses are distinguished with a small space along with a LED flash.
At both sides of the phone, there are small cuts that help the phone to bend along with the screen easily. There is a video too that shows how the phone uses the cuts to bend and fold completely. We can clearly see how Sony is using the basic foldable phone approach with the screen. The folded sony xperia flex somehow looks like PlayStation 4, and there is a 3 mm screen on both top and bottom of the phone. When the phone is folded all the notifications with the time can be seen on the small screen.
There is no solid information available of the phone yet, and it seems to be only a concept design on which the company may be working right now. However, the different sources have leaked some information that could be true. According to the rumors, Sony Xperia Flex could feature a 6.2-inch OLED 4K display having the aspect ratio of 18:9.
The phone is expected to carry powerful hardware support under the hood. Sony Xperia Flex could come with Snapdragon 855 chipset that will be coupled with the 6 or 8 GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The dual rear camera will have 19+12MP lenses for capturing high-quality images.
The front camera is expected to host a 12MP lens that will be accompanied by the 3D facial scanner as there is no fingerprint sensor. Besides, Sony Xperia Flex is also likely to come with a powerful battery supporting the wireless charging. However, all the specifications mentioned above are just rumors and leaks as there are no official words about the phone yet.
The release date of the Sony’s foldable phone is still a question as we don't have any information regarding this. Moreover, the company has not shared anything about the foldable screen yet, so it is possible that the phone is still under development. The foldable screen phones is still an unaccomplished idea on which the companies are working according to our opinion, Sony Xperia Flex will make its first appearance in late 2019 after the Samsung Galaxy X.
