Xiaomi has been taking over the Asian smartphone market for the last three years with its unusual approach. On one side where it started to target the larger consumers with a budget-friendly smartphone, later it introduces its flagship devices. Xiaomi smartphones fall into two categories maintained by the company, where one is Mi and other is Redmi. The Redmi series is for the money conscious users that bridges the gap between cheaper phones and high-end features. On the other hand, the Mi series showcases the high-end smartphones from the company including the latest Mi 8. Besides, the smartphone maker just entered into the gaming smartphone market with its Black Shark.

Now, it seems like Xiaomi is planning to introduce a new range of smartphone to disturb the market. According to the rumors the company is working on the new phone named Pocophone. The different resources have confirmed that Xiaomi filed a petition to EU for a new smartphone last month. The phone has already received the certification from the Taiwanese NCC website. Now, the Pocophone has been spotted on the US FCC listing where it gets the certification. However, on both the sites the Pocophone is spotted with a different model number. On the Taiwanese website, you will see the mentioned model number M1805D1SG, which is different on the FCC’s website. But, the FCC-ID (2AFZZ-XMSE10A) for the both the models remains the same, so we assume there could be two different variants of the Xiaomi smartphone.

What is Xiaomi Pocophone?

So far what we have known about the phone includes only the name and the FCC certification cover letter. The rumors and leaks of the Xiaomi phone are limited that means it must be under-development right now. However, both the FCC and NCC certifications have proven its existence. The Pocophone seems to be a new Xiaomi series on the basis of the information that we have received so far.

The FCC certification cover letter reveals the dimensions of the phone and the back panel in a schematic design. According to the design the Pocophone is 151m long and 76mm wide. Besides, the diagonal length of the phone is 163 mm which supports the 18:9 aspect ratio. However it is hard to say about the thickness of the Xiaomi phone now, but the company will keep it slim. According to the design, the Xiaomi secret smartphone supports both 2.5GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands along with Bluetooth connectivity.

What about the Picophone features?

Since we don't have anything solid on the Xiaomi’s weirdly named smartphone for now, so we are relying on the rumors and leaks. The recent rumors mentions that Pacophone could come with 6GB RAM coupled with 64/128GB internal storage. Besides, the phone will be running on a Snapdragon 845 chipset similar to Mi 8.

However, these Pcophone specifications combination neither puts it in affordable Redmi lineup nor with flagship Mi series. Along with this the leaked image also shows a dual rear camera at the back panel, without any rear fingerprint sensor. Xiaomi could implant an in-display fingerprint sensor at the screen for a bezel-less display.

Apart from these information we could only guess other features of the phone or could wait for a while and let the leaks to come out on the surface.

What will be the Picophone release date?

Discussing the release date of the Xiaomi smartphone could be too early now. However, now we are sure that the Pocophone is real and will be coming in the future. As the Xioami phone has just received the FCC certification, so it must be under the development, and it could take a while for Xiaomi to spill the beans. We are expecting the Xiaomi Picophone to come out of the shadows in mid 2019.
