You can check by using apps or by connecting your device with PC.
Seamless Updates are one of the most significant features that Android has rolled out for its users. The feature enables your device to update to any newer version available automatically. Seamless Update was rolled out with Android 7.0 Nougat. Sadly, the feature is still missing in most of the smartphones. There are only handful of smartphones that support Seamless Updates.
The feature is developed by Google to make it easy for its users to update firmware easily. It works on A/B partition system. The smartphone that supports Seamless Updates has two sets of partitions, a_slot, and b_slot. Any new update gets downloaded to the inactive slot.
Here are the few methods through which you can check your smartphone’s compatibility to Seamless Updates. Take a look:
The Treble Check app can be download from Google Play Store. The app offers one of the easiest ways to check Seamless Update Support on Android devices. Once installed, open the device, and you will be shown the support status.
Terminal Emulator is another app that can help you to check whether your Android device supports seamless updates or not. You just need to run the command in ADB shell or a Terminal Emulator app, and the app will apprise you about the seamless update support.
If you don’t wish to go with Android apps, you can do the check by connecting your smartphone with your PC.
1st command: adb shell getprop ro.boot.slot_suffix
The result will be either ‘_a‘ or ‘_b.‘
2nd command: adb shell getprop ro.build.ab_update
You will get true or false.
As I have earlier said, Seamless Updates are available on the only handful of devices but you never know, you can be the one. Thus follow the above-mentioned steps to know more about it.
